CMS Enivronment – Pros and Cons?
Hello Guys, I need to know your opinion upon making sites together with CMS like php-nuke. I understand them gives you a lot of functionality and will save time on planning… etc. For someone who doesn’t want research the time taking in painful path of learning to do everything in web coding pages this appears to be what you want. However I’m informed that CMS web sites have securtiy problems and therefore are very easy in order to hack. I imagine that are ways close to this though Did you realize of any some other pros or cons to using CMS. Bless you They aren’t easy to hack, and when your site will not become super-popular, nobody will be considering hacking your web-site. Try out mambo, envolution, xoops… Not really php-nuke, it’s the older of and has security-issues. Well My organization is using PHP-Nuke and I ani’t complaining about how precisely it works. Nobody haven’t tryied in order to hack it yet but There’s no doubt that that noone is interested to undertake that. If you retain updateing I don’t think that it will have a problem in any way.

Re-design using templates .. or SSI
I recently inherited a site that is developed using eyeglass frames. I’m going to lose frames.. so by using 400 html records, would it possibly be better to re-design your website using templates.. or server-side includes. I don’t see the templated information being changed too often. Explanations welcome.. I’m not too experienced with SSI’s Gives thanks! Jayell hmm i do not know Jayell, templates and SSI may not be mutually exclusive; typically templates would employ SSI. If you have that lots of pages I would certainly go for any SSI functionality… you’ll probably decide to look into using CSS div layers to position your own various elements for the page, in order to generate the page work from a similar way towards the existing frames features. As for the SSI itself feel free to use various technologies to complete it; php, or shtml or (if you are on Windows servers) asp. Either that or download one of many various template established Content Management solutions… phpnuke, postnuke, Xoops, Mambo and so on… they all enable template based design with user CPanel and so forth… really depends what are the site you are after… if you wish this sort with functionality installing … Continue reading

I also am unclear what info to post that can help. Since my sites are allready in tables can i just build a blank database and utilize a command to step the webpages to it. Where is good quality howto’s on this particular. What server side language are you using to do this Additionally, what do everyone mean " move the webpages over to it".. do you necessarily mean store the content in a database and subsequently extract when that page is looked at asp. just as much as posable. I ran across a page once that was that was sold as form of a internet in a box that was done prefer that. I will try to find the site again and post a link to help … Continue reading

Displaying Others RSS Feeds on Your Site
I’m looking to create a page that serves to help present visitors when using the last 5 memories (title and brief description) originating from a collection of different sites, through REALLY SIMPLY SYNDICATION. What is the best way to create this specific page and allow it to become automated so them updates itself regularly and I never have to touch it yet again My site presently uses Mambo, but We are willing to switch CMS’s just for this, if it’s effortlessly done in another. I’ve truly done some yahoo and forum looking, but can never find a way to find exactly what I’m seeking… Oh yea, and while I am just asking, has anybody heard of ways to splice RSS nourish stories together to set-up my own tailor made feed Like, taking my favorite stories from the few different REALLY SIMPLY SYNDICATION feeds and creating my own feed… You won’t have to use Mambo features for the feeds directly, therefore you could incorporate a fairly easy RSS parser such as MagpieRSS or zFeeder for example. I use zFeeder and possess several different sources displaying together as you resource for the visitor. And watch out about aggregating others’ REALLY SIMPLY SYNDICATION … Continue reading

what are some tips for integrating an already completed website
which has a CMS My client prefers me to change coursesmart into a CMS and I’m taking a look at Drupal, Mambo, Joomla, and various CMS (including your free open source ones). My knowledge of PHP is kind of limited, but seems like that these prime CMS suites can make it easier. Is there much exact learning curve, though Thanks. So that they can pratice the CMS I’m planning to use my own ftp server besides the clients, so there won’t be any disruption on theirs. A few of these CMS systems is often rather complicated. I think the option rests on what the website owner requires the procedure for (and the actual intended scale). Should they need all the features of an all-singing all-dancing CMS then sure go for one like Joomla, but if all needed is to edit the text of several pages occassionally using a web-based interface, then a incredibly easier solutions such as the free CMS Editpoint might help things. Wordpress is often a blogging cms, but its really easy to edit and use you can make a website from it. Just a expertise in css and slightly php is all you need. http: //www. squidoo. … Continue reading

User Friendly CMS?
I have worked with Drupal, Joomla, Mambo and also SharePoint. From an internet development prospective, I can work with them all. The problem is from a client’s prospective. Drupal, Joomla and also Mambo all possess similar administrative energy. I my view, I don’t think they’re user friendly; the schema of sections and categories may be very confusing to a client. What I enjoyed about working with SharePoint is the back-end looking fairly akin to Explorer. Clients who work with computers all daytime understand the folder developed, which SharePoint functions also. Family and friends, my client hopes to make changes recommended to their own website, so My business is going the CMS road. I want something that certainly will not overwhelm my customer. If you include any suggestions in respect of how to handle this (preferably wide open source), I sooo want to hear it. Type Website are these people after Brand-new checked out WordPress/Expression Serp They certainly are a non-profit organization that is definitely looking for a really basic site where they might just add updates recommended to their own content (pretty a great deal 8 pages plus a photo gallery) It is not a blog consequently I wasn’t seeking … Continue reading
