At the end of this last school year, my web page design teacher introduced my family to someone who wanted several websites created, and he didn’t mind hiring student site designers. The first web site I’m working on I have to do on my own; however, I am more of an PHP coder and am significantly better at behind-the-scenes sorts of stuff, like sources and such. We have never designed a niche site for someone where they really want a specific look. I am getting the worst time ever receiving the site to look how an client wants it to appear. He wants that to be very similar to http: //www. mmc. com, and though I’ve tried to operate really hard to acquire everything how he / she wants, I was becoming very, very unmotivated because I am not doing good and am nervous about further disappointing him.
I am just not your designer. This is what Concerning for the homepage to date:

POST created the tabbed spot in jQuery by myself, as I could not find any pre-made tabs that we could successfully put into practice. He seemed quite dissatisfied with that when i spoke to the pup; it just won’t look like what exactly is on mmc. com.
This individual also wants any fluid layout, i always personally don’t assume looks too good. It was initially a fixed-width format, but he wished it changed. We have a friend though that’s a professional wp website designer, and he advised in my experience that fluid layouts are not a good notion, unless they’re like this for some certain reason.
This is what I have for that content pages up to now:

Your customer has not witnessed this yet, which is a simple test out page, as he have not given me any content to set up yet. I want to be the Voice header and also the paragraph below it to search next to the particular menu there, but I have no clue how to.
I apologize if I’ve just sorts of thrown everything out here, I just have no clue what to can and am determined about finding help. Please ask any questions you might have, and if you might have any tips to me, I’d be so pleased to hear them. I’ve never done web page design for other people and I merely don’t know precisely how it works, POST guess.
Thanks considerably.

Your content page looks very similar to the one he or she wants,
aside from the menu… nonetheless your menu appears to be nicer.
The fluid design is what helps it be look different.
Over a wide monitor it seems very " wide".
Only the heck connected with it, I checked the HTML source for any other site,
also it seems sort of confusing and challenging to follow. Plenty of Javascripting.
I believe a JQuery menus like yours is a better way.
You have the problem of an client that is stuck on an idea and won’t
have the ability to settle on anything you construct….. welcome to Article writing!
I would do it in this way for your unique client…
Present him some web pages like these (free CSS templates):
http: //www. freecsstemplates. org/
http: //www. free-css-templates. com/
Make it possible for him pick one particular out. Describe to him methods to customize the banners along with such.
The XHTML/CSS is pretty much done for everyone.
Nonetheless, alas… you could have an " interesting" client to operate for… good good fortune.
Yes, it really is true. after just about all little knowledge can be dangerous thing..
Perhaps you have thought about starting using a template and modyfying that. Easier than starting from scratch
Remorseful for my delay in replying.
The morning after I placed this, I think, I met with my web page design teacher (the one who introduced me to the current client) and the lady was extremely very helpful. She gave me a good start to carry on, and after many hours of work at my part, the home page looks better.

He also checked the content site, and although this doesn’t happen look exactly much like the content pages at http: //www. mmc. com, he didn’t help make any negative comment forms on it whatsoever.
That " Your textual content will go here" fades in and out different images along with jQuery and basically looks very nice.
The only thing I’ll really comment at, is just ensure that when it is usually all complete, it will eventually fit in a new 1024×768 resolution. I don’t believe that anyone purposes 800×600 anymore, so for any width, you need to be fine with related to 1000 pixels.
