Passwords?
I need to put a section on my website, that only associates can access. I know a simple method of passwording it, although it’s hopeless, because you will see it in the actual source code, hence that’s pretty pointless. Does anyone know of a better way to do this If your host supports. htaccess information (free hosts may well not), then look at this out: http: //faq. smart. net/htaccess. htm it won’t let me do that, it’s as being a pain in the actual rear Carry out they support PHP, ASP, Perl, and so on. or just bare HTML If it is the latter then you’re basically screwed. Java applets aren’t a solution because they could be decompiled. We are using geocities, angelfire and also bravenet. WE’ve tried liquid 2K, but it is best to down. Vic’s hoping to put together an ftp server i a number of months, but most people need something to be able to tide us more than http: //www. internations. net/ Thanks Arien!!! *hugs* ((Can we’ve found the hug smilies back again please) Do they assist you to cross link That’s our problem, Vic made tons of backgrounds, but imagestation resizes and then, and no … Continue reading

What dictates….
….. how an FTP site looks on a users machine. For instance the Dell ftp site on Netscape with my Win XP machines seems like pic 1, although on Internet explorer that looks nice. That said on one of many users Mac products on Internet explorer in addition , it looks like picture 1. I have likewise opened some ftp sites on Internet explorer and yes it looks like photo 1. So what dictates how a FTP site looks and just how do this be tailored An FTP is merely a directory listing, the appearance is dictated through the client you’re utilizing. You’ll notice that will ALL FTP sites look identical in a unique client. Hi, thanks for ones reply, is it possible to please tell me what you necessarily mean by client. Does one mean the web browser used to show the FTP folder articles Yes, client would have been a program or visitor… anything that might access FTP. Where I know you cannot change the look on the specific FTP, you are able to just set filters against your client’s side, next to nothing server side. The way strange. The FTP site seems like the contents of your … Continue reading

How do you let your artistically-challenged customers make site updates?
Hi all, Formerly suffering with tinnitus a web designer for a variety of years now. WHEN I also fully program code the sites WHEN I design, minus any vast perception of CGI, PHP, and so on. I do make use of standard HTML (or XHTML), Thumb, and full CSS. I’m pretty up to date on CSS, requirements and all, but may be fairly " old fashioned" otherwise: After i complete a web page, almost everything is. html files in an FTP server, which are editable by FTP or GoLive or whatever, saved and/or published. There’s a lot of integrated Flash, CGI screenplays, etc, as essential, but while I do design the particular Flash, all additional stuff (CGI calendars, site searches, form digesting, shopping carts, etc) I recently download and customize. I take lots of pride in the form aspect above all, my clients will be always happy, and I do think my sites look good and varied. I’ve played webmaster just the summer sites (doing once a month updates for clients) while others are sort with static, rarely-changing websites. But now I have a few clients who want control over constantly editing their unique sites — uploading images, news improvements, … Continue reading

After i type in world wide web. example. com/index. html your website opens correctly. Managed I miss/delete something, what am I missing. Spent the entire morning googling the prob but without luck. Website design and what not necessarily is totaly new if you ask me. You need to help Gives thanks in advance Pof That’s a server setting that appears to be set incorrectly. Test changing the index chart. html to directory. htm, see in case it works. If it’s a windows server, switch it to default. htm Or default. html When you have access to your hosting provider control panel, there is often a setting where you may add index. html because you default document.
