Designing For A Living

I thought We would start this thread because I had been wondering who exactly about this forum does web designing for any living. I am only 15 years of age and am looking towards webdesign for the possible carrear, and Im continually being told in which there is a handsome profit involved with webdesign. Then again, this forum in this article and other on the internet has thousands and a large number of webdesigners on these people, and it cause you to be think by the time I am definitely old enough to try and do it as a full time income, (after college and university) if you experience still going in the form of big demmand with regard to websites. It appears pretty much every one of the companies are jumping to the band wagon now, and Im worried by the time I’m doing what I adore to do for any living, there will probably be no work

What do most of you guys think about this Am MY PARTNER AND I right in thinking that it will have a small demmand to get sites in some three years time becuse everyone has one Or even will it get bigger and many more of a demmand

Regards,

Daniel Oliver

I think demand for websites will probably only increase over the next few years as more and much more people start to work with the marketing potential from the Internet.

However I don’t feel finding work being a web designer will end up any easier. There are more and more templates and sorcerer created sites appearing constantly and designing an affiliate site is becoming not difficult.

A lot of people who call themselves web designers are not qualified in anything above creating a page utilizing a WYSIWYG editor and also linking it to be able to other similar websites and calling it a niche site.

For anyone who is serious about designing professionally I’d personally advise concentrating on among the list of aspects of web site design that actually calls for real knowledge and skill for example database integration, graphic design and even copywriting.

If you’ve got a type of skills you will squeeze into a design team much more easily than somebody who has created a very few sites using Dreamweaver that do a little bit of everything but whom doesn’t really know the fundamentals of any among the list of aspects that comprise a well intended site.

Sure, I see precisely what you mean, I will be currently trying to find out graphic designing, however it will be my weakest spot as I haven’t done much of it recently, Im looking for taking a few student courses involving the idea aswell as webdesign and maybe a few others, and I have a load regarding books on purchase and Mysql as well as PhP in hope to find out something from all of them. But at the conclusion of the morning, it doesnt matter what program get to edit web-sites, if it seems good then it’s looks good.

There exists a lot more to designing a web site page than turning it into look good.

The sites which make decent money for the designer have been database driven which requires a particular standard of legitimate knowledge. Sites should also be tested for useability together with reliability.

So that it is look good, though important, usually only is supplied in at the last stage given it is the simplest thing to code to the site using CSS. Check this stuff out round these forums might see plenty of sites within the " how’s this site forum" that are deprived of a banner yet or a re missing some graphics while the designer is developing the site.

Dreamweaver is an excellent tool but it surely isn’t a replacement knowing how to design and code a niche site from scratch.

Well you I didnt imply just the looks but you know what MY SPOUSE AND I meant.

Ones right, like I said above, I’m only 15 so Concerning plenty of time to master other code languages and all the rest of the idea. If I you should not do webdesign being a living when I’m older Let me no doubt function it alongside probably, as a like part time home based job.

Are there any sites that you just would recommend to learn more about webdesign I am soon going to take some on the net courses and certificates i always think would assist aswell. ANy other suggestions

online world. w3schools. com is great as a reference
online world. 4guysfromrolla. com will last ASP
Jakob Nielsen’s site might be priced at a look intended for accesibilty and useability.
online world. webmonkey. com has tutorials about just about all.
http: //javascript. world-wide-web. com/ has some useful JavaScript snippets (just don’t get carried away with them! )

Best of luck in your feasible new career!

Regards, I have been recently on the w3schools web page and think its good, there where I will be thinking of acquiring some exams with regard to certification etc, would you think is it worth every penny

well i want to add some comments to this specific thread. I wouldnt suggest you choose to do webdesigning just when you see the cash potential. I have consult alot of my buddies and everytime these people tell me they want to get a part of computer because many people see what my spouse and i do. I let them know i love computers along with the internet. if i dont make anything from it, may well not bother me in any way i will just go out and get an authentic job. my point it that you simply do something you actually like and not because you can also make alot of money from that.. that like myself becoming a Surgeon simply because make 90k including a year which will be good money nevertheless i wouldnt like the work.

Come across your talent and also ride that highway..
just my cents included to the thread

Best of luck felllow designer

I probably wouldn’t bother with certification yet. Spend after some duration learning and practicing to guarantee you know exactly what you deserve to be credentialed for.

Nearly all " Web Design" courses are pointless and won’t coach you on anything more than you are able to teach yourself in a number of weeks. Once you’ve got a thought of what skills you desire to develop then I’d personally suggest taking a " real" course including graphic design and also whatever takes your current fancy.

Sure, Im currently doing a few sites if you are that I’m doing for basically free, or as a swap for something else, Not for money, I’m doing this because I think it becomes important to erected a portfolio. Am I suitable in thinking this would having a portfolio help for getting a job whenever I’m older etc

Yes, I’m sure it important to build up a portfolio with the following reasons:

JUST ONE. People can see your work
TWO. People can see you are designed for doing what many people want
3. The people w
