Starting a Forum

I want to start some sort of forum and know practically nothing about the technicalities of defining it as happen. Please, aid me!

I would like to have any main page that will report events of note, and then ten or so main catagories each with 3 or 4 sub catagories each capable to support whatever threads is likely to be posted.

Grapics and such I’m sure can come later but how do you get this going

If you’ve the money to help spare, you could always complement vbulletin, which will be what runs this specific forum.

I’m sure even though that u found cheaper or free of charge scripts for forums over the internet, through a yahoo search.

http: //phpbb. com is often a free PHP coded forum software using a MySQL backend.

thanks for any quick comeback. I signed at with an intermediate invision one hour ago. lacking info i just went. hope it computes lol.

would i do perfect or wrong

Do you mean Invision Power Board Would you pretty good one too.

yes. we have a blank aboard now lol. i do love to read my individual posts. now we have it all to myself. no reasons.

only want to come it and can make threads for some other person to have got an opinion, how do you do something by it

If you need to argue with on your own, fire up a further browser, (not a fresh window, a new browser) and make a new account, and you can argue between the two until you receive bored. Which hopefully would be soon.

Cool, however I was more keen on cutomizing the site as Concerning no acess just as one Admin or technology on it. How do you do that Concerning a password along with all, just don’t know how or where helping put it.

Once you installed the aboard, it should include prompted you to set up an admin username/pw. When logged within this account, a good " Admin Area" link should appear usually at the bottom of the article. This is the method that you control the aboard.

Thanks Spluf, I must’ve accessed the wrong link. I’ll look at again

Value the help

This specific two are easy and easy. (Though openBB is not so simple)

openBB
Phorum

They want a good set up script, but you’ll want to have basic notions about MySQL. (And certainly, a MySQL database to the hosting).
You can try several forum scripts from the same database simply using a table prefix. This can be: if you set the prefix of OpenBB from the install script for you to " openBB_" the many tables that creates openBB start with " openBB_". By way of example, a table labeled " userid" will look so: " openBB_userid".

I hope I was with help.
