Idea’s & opinions on layout please. [Updated]

I much prefer development to style and design is just not exactly my strong suit. This however is my work for balance making a fresh homepage. For the past few months clients have visit me via word of mouth. I am starting to possess a lull throughout projects so there’s no doubt that its time i create web presence for myself. During this layout i made my paragraphs first, i then performed around with size, placement and formatting, next i started to fill in the background. Finally i added a portfolio image but it was done. Here is the first time we’ve tried to design a website this way. What do people think of this design. Does anyone possess any ideas/suggestions to enhance it http: //www. jasonstanley. co. uk/misc/layout. jpg 1) dont create a savings fund same font for the entire page 2) whats when using the diagonal image! The diagonal image should preferably be like the Polaroid picture. So I can code fine, but what about design?

MY PARTNER AND I guess I’m definitely not that creative people, or at minimum my innate creativity wasn’t fully realised just simply yet. Y’see, I will code a site not a problem. The problem arises with building a site look great. At the moment I have a new plain HTML page that has a small header. It’s simply a glossy black gradient having an outer glow, but I can’t visualize how to take it further. This happens a whole lot. The other issue is moving away from what I time period, ‘The CSS Look’: the theory that is angular, includes 1 pixel is bordered by around everything in addition to basic background shades, and generally seems like it’s been made by someone whom hasn’t really experimented. Pimp That Snack will be the prime example. Using other web pages for inspiration is hard because I don’t want a site to look too derivative connected with others. I don’t want something what a blatant copy regarding another popular site. Hence, I have the ambitions and my own ideas, but no skill for getting good results.
