Hello all –
I’ve noticed that some WDF threads are arriving in Google with all the following format:
online world. webdesignforums. net/threadid4331session. code
I would like to ask (if I may) how this has become achieved – ie, may be the actual vB coding modified due to this, or (more likely) are these claims from using mod_rewrite about the actual server to be able to modify the URLs
If you do, is there anywhere I can find more details on performing this
My forums are instead being well indexed, but dynamic pages as static pages appears to help you more with participating backlinks – which serves as a particular selling point for smaller forums attempting to attract newer customers.
Is this something that could be discussed here
. htaccess applying mod_rewrite. There are wide ranging hacks I learn for invisionboard, and I’d imagine there is some for vB to be able to. It’s a genuinely simple thing really…
Unfortunately, not really for myself…
I was simply curious concerning using something related on my vB THREE.
Would anyone be considering discussing more about how precisely it was performed for WDF Or can i leave the situation alone – specifically in public
I did check out vBulletin. org pertaining to " mod_rewrite" plus " static. html" – however is not much there – 1 thread on this archive, which is already included on vB3.
I do not think there’s any reason to hold it secret.. this really is not a perform of vB at all, but merely apache. Basically, mod_rewrite takes the URL and improvements it into something else with no user knowing. Them uses regular expressions in order to change something. Currently, I will provide you with generally how it works…. but have no idea of how to implement it perfectly because I have no idea regular expresssions, that is merely a web theme for how the idea works.
in you htaccess you will have two lines connected with code that signify somethingl.
RewriteCond: That tinnitus for rewriting this url. This can have something like thread(someregularexpression for your numbers). html
RewriteRule: The action requires if the problem is met. This will have something similar to showthread. phpid=(the variable through the rewrite condition).
If you ever seach the community forums, I forget where by.. but I started out a thread asking about it question and There’s no doubt that filburt posted a snippet from the code used on WDF. If not necessarily, I suggest you go to vB. org and choose a hack – I’m sure it’s in there. If you are unable to find one.. I guess go googling to get mod_rewrite tutorials. You’ll have to hack vB making sure that the links to threads change from showthread. phpthreadid=111 that will thread111. html, and probably an issue with the trainings – but I might leave that outside this discussion in case you are asking specific questions about vB – if you ever just keep the item to PHP I believe you’ll be very good.
I discovered the hack an individual needed at vB. org and PMed it for your requirements (just in circumstance filburt would acquire all upset ).
