I’m with the stage now where We would like to choose which will server-side scripting technology I will use from today on. I can be interested if most of you could allow your/link to beliefs or articles with regards to which language you should recommend.
Cheers,
Ali
I have recently moved over to PHP from ASP. I prefer ASP because language structure is very much more sensible to me. The problem is always that it is harder to locate hosts.
ASP. NET looks great though so perhaps worth investigating.
I have tried using both but my partner and i kinda lean in direction of PHP for the belief that i like mysql alot as well as two of these individuals work great together
PHP makes use of more standard format and has more affordable hosting available.
ASP can be slowly being phased available, with the recently available introduction of Microsoft windows Server 2003 (which can certainly host ASP. NET).
Match PHP for now. There’s no reason you cannot learn both afterwards.
You cant make a mistake learning PHP. But if you could be serious about website development i would declare learn both (or more) finally, you will come across situations when you will need one or other due to a current environment. For example.. the Company my business is working for has both ASP and also PHP web servers and so they are installing Cold fusion(they have a few flash sites they want to ‘work better’ i do think its a waste of your time and money).. AND need to fiddle with old outdated Perl scripts often(i am in the act of moving them away from perl/cgi at this point and onto ASP, they have a huge majority Microsoft environment) I might say learn PHP out of the entire ones i have delt featuring a my favorite, these have the best database support that will run on any platform and it has the FREE!! cant beat that plus these have OODLES (yes when i said oodles) of people who support it that will offer assistance. Learn ASP if you ever have an itching to master Vbscript or you have alot of ‘Microstoft householders’. (Note: VBscript is just not the only language you’ll be able to write asp web sites in, but its the easiest/best that you use in my own opinion).
CGI WHEN I woudont even touch anymore, its not really efficent by todays standards and can get complicated simply. And cold blend is cool my spouse and i guess.. it has a reputation for being easy to educate yourself and works with flash well, but php also works very well with flash if you install the proper modules while you install it.
