Hi…
Im developing a site for a pal and have going it in dreamweaver FIVE.
I have established a central table to keep the content and considering using layers to support the menu bar as well as actual content Is this the best ways of doing it
As well, when I develop the layers and also do an F12 along with view them within the browser the aren’t where I placed them Need to manually move them around but then they don’t appear correct within DW!
As well, is it simply easier (and better) to utilize PHP with some sort of MySQL db I have no idea PHP at all so this can include a problem…: ermm:
Just about any ideas folks!!!
Cheers!

Your problem is dreamweaver FOUR. Its ancient, dreamweaver is designed to make websites prior to standards in browsers. Times have graduated a lot seeing that Dreamweaver 4
I know its old-school although its free!
I don’t really wanna have the funds for DW8 just to complete one website… can be dw4 really this bad
DW4 is just not THAT bad, but considering that the technologies move as fast as a hurricane, maybe you do not have the up-to-date tool to produce the layers you are trying to create. I never liked to generate layers at all and I really believe that creating them with DW is usually even a even worse nightmare… just this two cents…
The challenge with WYSIWYGs is it’s not accurate! This is where html is available in handy. Try setting your layer by simply coordinates. If it seems to be bad in DW but fine from a browser, keep that.
You do not need PHP or mySQL for design.
DW4 can be what, four several years old
The following is a question in order to ponder: Would you get hold of four-year old cell phone I’m sure it would still work!
DCScene can be right… even when things look odd in DW, they still can easily look fine when you look at a new page directly from a browser. There are variations between what DW demonstrates to you and the fact…
The best ways to create tiers (imo) is simply using a css with coordinates. It is tricky and you should be patient while searching for the correct coordinates, but in the long run, I think it is the best alternative.
I find Dreamweaver will work for roughly placing tiers, but one then is required to drop into that code and toe nail down the coordinates much more exactly. This is where DW can be a nice tool, the capability to switch somewhere between design views plus code views. You definitely don’t wish to layout DIVs/layers just in DW’s design view, but to get a sense of where you wish things to get, being able in order to draw them in the palette can be nice.
In connection with you’re comfortable commencing the code with the proper fine-tuning.
