Looking to get into Web Design, Advice Please.

Hello All,

Earliest post so often be gentle, and hello for your requirements all

My organization is currently thinking about engaging in Web Design and was wondering just what exactly the
best technologies to study is.

Let me primarily be looking to create web sites for myself, the more interactive the higher quality with a perspective to them staying techie and futuristic with a lot of interactivity involved, items like forums, real time frame support, the ability if anyone else is to buy stuff on the website, mp3/video downloads plus real time streaming and probably any blog also.

What i need to learn is what path we need to take, we’ve spoken to a couple of people and many are the suggestions i’ve had so significantly.

Either are reduced the Adobe way with CS3/4 plus ASP. NET and C#/VBasic (i think or will it be VBNET).

or even

To consider the MS Expression and Silverlight

Now as much as i am mindful Silverlight is MS competitor for Adobe flash and Expression is definitely their verison connected with Dreamweaver.

BTW i should also have mentioned we dont know any HTML etc so i am going to be doing a training course in that firstly.

Basically i am searching for something that will give me creative mobility with design and coding along with the ability to come up with great looking, sleak sites which could both impress and interest users.

I have major time on my poker hands and my absolute goal is to join a course within London which get me started, there’s no doubt that it will probably go like that:

CODE course
C#/VBasic (or VBNET)
ASP. NET

While learning CS3/4 in your own home with video series.

or will probably be the MS course.

Also what concerning Ajax and CMS systems lilke Joomla MY PARTNER AND I hear Ajax is the way forward but really do not know, then there is niagra Aptana which i’ve seen mentioned more than once here.

Every suggestions, tips on courses etc is going to be most gratefully valued.

Quite a few thanks

Learn similar to this.

CODE – CSS : JavaScript

These are your core front-end languages. If you would like to serious do anything when using the web you should know these. Additionally note that Ajax is usually all done by using Javascript.

After getting done this We’d say go PHP -> Ruby on Rails / Django.

There’s no doubt that that PHP is worth learning, especially if you are likely to use a composition like CodeIgniter or perhaps Symphony.

However I think that you can also be shopping toward next creation languages like Train track and Django. PHP is limited, its limited because this really is just a website framework for C. Both Rails and Django boast all of the support of Ruby/Python meaning that there really can be nothing to restrict you.

You key concern now really should be HTML/CSS/JavaScript.

After getting those in a back corner look to backend technology

Hi, welcome to wp site designer world maybe an effective way to start with regard to learn something about web page design you can analysis from google and you may know what the thing that you should learn first, second as well as other else, for my opinion the important thing for web creator should know are

– Design skill (Photoshop, Illustrator, Display, Dreamweaver and etc. )
– HTML
– CSS

And when you success coming from that thing it is possible to learn more for Actionscript (for flash), JAVAscript, AJAX like you said and it should be good knowing php basic it can help you when you help programmer.

And a few web design trips maybe it is possible to research from this particular link http: //www. webdesign-edge. com/our-blog/

Relation

I would also like to point out that CSS 3 seriously isn’t supported by windows. Hell the documentation for this still isn’t agreed. You cannot discover something that were created.

Also WILL NOT LEARN JAVA, understand JavaScript. They are two contrasting languages.

Hello Guys,

Thanks for the quick replies, they may be appreciated.

So it looks like will probably be:

HTML
CSS
JavaScript

And my organization is already learning CS3 (including Flash Actionscript) at your house.

I was instructed that PHP is usually an old pretty considerably defunct language that is out of date.

Additionally my misses knows HTML, CSS many and Asp. net (a little) so when i was looking to find advice for just what exactly she should switch onto next i got told c# in addition to ASP. NET inside more detail, ought to she just know JavaScript or does she need ASP. Net for the kind of pages i ‘m reffering too

And i recognize you will ask so i am going to say, she has tried to teach me but their impossible, so rather then arguments i decided to go this way lol.

thanks for the advice,

What is the background of anybody that told people that
merely curious.

Regardless of whether they meant to convey " Perl", that statement isn’t legitimate.

ROFL! However true!; -)

Really. JavaScript is intended for designers. JAVA is designed for programmers.

Hello Mark

Other than doing local work and advertising locally, I would without a doubt recommend building a pleasant portfolio of work that you can display on your online business site by performing small and low to medium size jobs being a freelancer. There are wide ranging individuals and businesses who daily require work done via small to massive jobs. This is a great way to get your foot wet and develop a body of work that you choose to can refer others too and at the same time get paid even though your waiting in some bigger jobs to come along

Hope that helps

Recognise, I would suggest

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Javascript
  • PHP
  • Ruby/Python
  • asp. net
  • c#

in that order We would suggest.

Whoever told you in which PHP was older and outdated, they’ve got got their specifics wrong. As mlsein said, even if that they meant Pearl, that is certainly old but it isn’t useless. Pearl is older than PHP, in fact it i still very useful and very used round the net.

I’d also like to point out that you have to learn XHTML, rather then plain HTML. XHTML is standards complient. To get more detailed information, check out there W3C.

I can back up this PHP language. That is most I use concerning being dynamic. I love the fact it is available source, therefore you can do additional with it and you can easily learn. Much easier to understand than. Net.. Net is nearly a language all by itself where as Javascript, PHP, Actionscript (Flash) all employ a common theme when it comes to coding. From what the other authors on in this article have said, I do believe you going in the direction of HTML > CSS > Javascript after which it LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). You are going to love working having PHP.
