Many options, whats good?

Hi guys, I like i found the following board alot far sooner, but at least i did..

My business is pretty much a ameture designer. When my band formed lots of years back, we were needing a site. Being broke musicians, all of us had limmitted alternatives. A friend gave me a copy regarding his dreamweaver and i started messing all over.

I made an affiliate site w/ dreamweaver, nothing special which will served its purpose for a while. Then i discovered of php nuke, so i fitted it and already been fussing with obstructions and modules for a while now. I need above what is obtainable from php nuke. I recently recently looked on Xoops, and Mambo. Now im totally stumped as to what direction to go.

What i need is really a site with all the current stuff a band could need. I need a mailing record form so men and women can add themselves on the mailing list, an establishment to post announcement, a photo gallery, a calander or some method to display upcoming shows, a message panel, mp3 player and so on.

I see many sites with get access areas and things. Are all these sites using a CMS systems or is he or she created from scratch I’d like something with your control panel the location where the info can possibly be updated quickly as well as easily. Should i stay with some form of CMS or there has to be software i should use to create this

what on earth is ASP and. net are they much better than nuke Will be best way to me to go about developing a powerfull site pertaining to my band Money isn’t an option, but i would prefer to do this myself. I would like to learn. I enjoy it as being a little hobby.. lol

Sorry with the lengthy post.. i ramble somewhat..

Mike

here’s my current wrist band site www. rotfmusic. com/index. php

i am new to website development to but i need to say wow seems nice man.

You could probably use a pre-built CMS (http: //www. opensourcecms. com/), but it might require a little tweaking to get all you want.

I’d personally suggest learning PHP along with MySQL. Learn easy methods to code it yourself. Building the stuff you wish is relatively quick. A login can be a breeze, news/gallery/calendar functionality is a bit more involved but nothing that can’t be handled on your. You can download a decent message board (phpBB or other). Not sure about an iphone though.

Thanks with the replies guys. Im about to look into finding out php. What is the best ways to learn it And what the heck is mySql php and mySql are employed together

Gives thanks

I suggest purchasing a book about this. You can get (At Amazon) which is a superb for the fundamentals. There are lots of books on the subject, though, that you’ll probably decide to go to your local bookstore and also scan the shelves.

MySQL can be a database. PHP enables you to connect to and grab data by MySQL. Apache is an internet server that you should need so that you can use PHP, because PHP can be a server-side language (meaning nearly anything you write in PHP are going to be run through the server prior to output is branded in HTML).

i’m just wondering why you’ve got a security code for the login

Also, are you talkin about my site For the reason that it’s in development and that’s the testing/editing zone at the moment. I don’t need people in now there messing with nearly anything yet. It’ll be open for everybody in maybe thirty days or so.

no i became talking about miikeremains.
