so, i think i’m planning to open a large can of viruses but here moves…..
i want a new personal computer because my mobile computer (which i’m currently seeking to use and is usually reallyslow!!!! ) is known for a really low specification on the handset. so embarressed we ain’t even gonna mention the specification on the handset.
now do i, buy a personal computer and install linux at it and merely use my pc for testing house windows crap (that is what i’m thinking)…. or do i use windows at my new laptop or computer and linux upon my laptop while i’ve heard that linux can run better with a slower pc (i could possibly be wrong there)
… OR MAYBE, do i obtain a mac, the only prob with all the last suggestion is the fact macs are expensive and i’m using a limited budget.
at any rate, if you were in my shoes what ever do. got some sort of budget of all over 500… or at this time there abouts.
also got word of this duel start thang where you may run linux and windows within the same machine… if anyone is doing that would some people reccomend that
Will Linux be a person’s primary OS, or do you use it only for testing
Save up some more money and get a Mac: thumbsup:
Create a Linux box. You can definitely dual-boot Linux along with the Doze, and it isn’t a huge fill of trouble, also. Ideally, make sure a person install Doze on the FAT32 partition, to enable you to play with this in Linux (you won’t have the capacity to do the inverse when you choose a fine Linux FS). Unless you want to partition this, just install Doze altogether hard drive, run a rapid defragment, and then reboot that has a Linux (Kubuntu is a great idea) LiveCD inside the drive. When an individual install Kubuntu, it could automatically resize your FAT32 partition for you. It’s fun, you learn some, it is just a different OS, and it isn’t as expensive being a Mac.
Disclaimer: I’m not Mac-giddy and I prefer my ViM, so Textmate can head over to hell: -D
mac mini
Dual-booting Linux.: -D
POST wanna try Linux, but my wife nearly killed me after i installed FireFox… I dont even wanna think about what might happen if she booted upward, and saw a little penguin………
think i would like to use linux since my main THE GW990, not sure if its the top idea but probably would not mind getting far from windows……. would have got assess to home windows anyway.
usually are not (mini) macs costly. will have to take a look into that for a second time.
tried to persuade my girlfreind that will put linux on your ex pc but i was shot down at the same time
cheapest macintosh personal computer mini is $599 UNITED STATES DOLLAR, and if you are in school there is certainly a discount. You can still need your monitor and keyboard / duck (USB), but maybe you have all that will already.
Just place on some Kevlar/Asbestos human body armor and deploy it anyway: -D: -D
ROFL! Which distro
I am liking what We’ve seen of Kubuntu. I know run Gentoo, but Gentoo is substantially more included and it’s more for any tinkerers who plan to live on the particular bleeding edge to the sake of being qualified to say they go on the bleeding edge… Like me: -P
Yup, just ordered Video games for Ubuntu and also Kubuntu, but will most likely go with Kubuntu. Ubuntu was mentioned on Involve Help the other day.
Lucky Canucks, still getting the remnants of TechTV
We have G4 Tech TV FOR PC. I love that.: laugh:
It sucks ass down within the USA.
Ubuntu and Kubuntu are essentially a similar distribution, except one is dependant on the KDE desktop environment plus the other draws on GNOME. I am an important fan of KDE, other people prefer GNOME — it can be mostly a make any difference of personal preference, I guess. KDE’s obtained some pretty wonderful architectural features that will GNOME can’t seriously match, however.
Yea, from looking at it. KDE appears to be great.
