So I’m hoping you guys and girls may help me out with a very basic question, when it pertains to photoshop tips on how to colorize a area of an image (say your face) without shedding the contours on the person’s face. While i do it, the person’s feature only disappears! If you are able to help me that could be great, thanks

Create a new layer over your image, and use your tool of choice (Polygon Lasso Device for example) to decide on the area where you need to change color.
(if it’s actually a uniformally colored thing, like a route sign or something, you can utilize the Magic Wand to decide on all areas covered because color and contrast by clicking within the original image. Then develop a new empty coating, and make positive it’s selected/active)
