Adding my own news and comment section

Hi, I’m afraid I am relatively new to web design so don’t learn how to code (nor wish to as I ‘m creating the content and there’s no time to accomplish both! ). I have a few sites set upwards with Dreamweaver as well as hosted on GoDaddy (using their Windows server option). On both sites I require a news as well as comment section to i always can regularly create news items as well as articles written by myself as well as other contributors. It obviously must be fairly elastic and still have an archive for the items that grow older. I have looked around on the internet for an add-in instrument but all I can find is exterior news and Rss feed utilities. I was advised make use of a Blog yet having played around with this particular it doesn’t appear to be the right job application for what I need and takes age range to load. Anyone out there know of any site add-on that could fit the bill There must be an incredible number of opinion and company sites that require this function. Cheers, Patrick You need either a CMS, which can be full-blown content supervision … Continue reading

admin panel

i’ve created a website template in illustrator and dreamweaver cs3. Everything is operating great but learn how to create an admin panel to permit others to modify and update coursesmart Easy that will ask, infinitely sophisticated to answer, and perpetually needing adjustments to solve. Seeing that you’re a custom made, you have several options. You may grab a Content Management System including WordPress (not actually CMS, but it has the good for uncomplicated things), Joomla!, or perhaps Drupal. Then you’d should try to learn to port your own design into your desired CMS, which is actually a hassle. CMS is going to be the best solution available for you, but it’s quite rigid – it’s hard to produce a CMS do exactly what you want. So your second option is always to write yourself how to edit them, within a server-side language, like PHP, RoR, or perhaps ASP. But before you do any of your, I strongly suggest you be sure your code can be as minimalistic as you can. Meaning, keep size the small sum of possible, make positive you’re using fresh, non-table layouts (which isn’t what you have when importing from photoshop), because otherwise it will eventually probably … Continue reading

Web Content editor?

We need a content manager, much like which is often used on forums. ONE click BBCode. It would be a wysiwyg editor or it could possibly just be a new text area with buttons. Relating to been looking for one this afternoon but are actually having some problems. Only to make it crystal clear, i am not searching for a CMS answer. I am searching for something which can add more functionality over a basic textarea. Something that will allow a person to edit written content without knowing code. http: //www. fckeditor. net/ You might give that a go. Unfortunately, I can’t actually offer any help on tips on how to use it. appears promising thanks, i will take a look into it. In addition have a go on TinyMCE. TinyMCE will be nice… that’s what all the CMSes use. Both equally look pretty equivalent, i got fkdeditor to figureout within a few momemts and covers my needs. Thanks to the help guys. FCKeditor is fantastic but does anyone know of a more simple editor or a course for adding you own BOLD, ITALIC, and UNDERLINE buttons to your basic textarea.

CMS concept turn…

My own Content Management System has taken a big turn. After looking through the book Coming up with the Obvious, that we found quite enlightening, I chose to drop superficial techniques, and reduce it for the bare basics. The objective of this CMS can be kinda different. It’s directed at developers to easily attach a CMS to somewhat of a design. It’s main purpose will probably be for my private projects, of lessons, but it’ll be free. A huge makeover was about the menu system. I boiled it as a result of simple " catagories" depending on the pages independantly, and developers simply attach PHP functions in place of those menus. There are still things, though. . Considering that menus are made, they only output something such as this: HTML: < ul id=" menuID" class=" customclass" > < li id=" menuID-1" > < your href=" url/" > Palate Item 1< /a> < /li> < li id=" menuID-2" > < your href=" other/" > Palate Item 2< /a> < /li> < /ul> This makes the CMS form of a purist. Additional attributes is often applied by the actual designer, but certainly not the structure once more. I know a number of … Continue reading

Client Uploading to FTP

What do you are affected by letting your clientele upload files to the server What would you think is the simplest way to transfer substantial files between you along with your client I have heard lots of people say that it’s not at all a good idea to offer your clients add capability directly to your server. Simply just want some strategies… With thanks. The root or only their directory And I guess it depends what you mean by client, just as the scale in the work. And also depends are usually purpose of the actual uploading, maybe there could be an alternative process. I think this also matters what type of files they need to upload, and with regard to what purpose. Sometimes, they just would like to upload images, or perhaps add new articles. Some of those techniques could be handled with a CMS. They would be sent into a folder on the particular server, and not the principle root directory. (Does it changes lives where they will be sent to) For the nature in the business: It can be for a stamping company…. clients send their own large files on the printing company that they are printed. … Continue reading
