The Illustrator Pen Tool pointing Icon

Hi Everybody! My name will be Montague and My business is new to this specific forum. I am trying to find a answer to something that’s causing some disappointment and would value if someone might help me out. My question is this: AS My business is using Illustrator this pen tool throughout my pointing icon is within a " x" mode as opposed to a Pen formed icon, and I tried to visit into preferences in order to change it although I can’t find anywhere where I could change this and it is really frustrating me personally.
