Need Feedback (Web Design as an art)

For one of my tuition, I have that will something is along with art or not an art. My topic MY PARTNER AND I chose is web design. I believe its an art some ways, certain Websites, ect… but seriously isn’t an art around ways either. Consequently, I was considering getting some responses. I want that will here opinions on why it will be concidered and fine art, and/or why the idea wouldn’t be concidered a art. Thanks: typical: In its humble beginnings ?t had been not anything near an art. But today it is. When you feel about how a web page is first fashioned, you see that your large art factor goes in to it. Each of the elements are carefully used in Photoshop or whichever program the designer choses. As using all good art work, there is very careful thought behind what is positioned where and how that will affect the audience. As with just about all good art, a web site site has some sort of visual theme that this audience will translate. The coding of any web site is usually an art in itself being studied and critiqued by others. A coder needs to search … Continue reading

2010 Goal – 10 Websites

Searching ahead to 2010, I am setting a mission for myself… do 10 Websites from the end of 2010 AND BEYOND. I’ve taken lessons, read books and built my very own little site. I’m not worrying within the details at this moment. I just prefer to set the program. What can you think of this goal Is it too ambitious Not ambitious enough Ever give yourself this kind of goal Thanks to your feedback Excellent goal. I did regarding 10 websites this holiday season. I could did more, but good business is slowly. 10 websites is a decent goal, subject to expertise level and also the complexity of the particular websites. I’ve designed simple websites (e. he. www. smartparkers. com) in just a few hours, but some of my more elaborate projects (e. he. www. oculi. com) happen to be ongoing for 2+ a long time. If you have good, interesting ideas for websites do it now! I have the relevant skills but I still for your life of me can’t come up with ideas of my own , personal! Its quite hard to grow and keep modified 10 sites continuously. But I want you luck and hope you’ll do … Continue reading

How much do you charge?

Now i am just curious just what exactly everyone’s rates are usually. I know it depends on the website. What would you charge for your typical multi-page website, built from nothing, no cms, not any e-commerce site For my first ever real live gig to build a website, everyone keeps telling me I need to charge as a minimum twenty an hour for all the work I’m performing. But considering We’ve no prior substantiation of work released, I’m charging all these guys ten a couple of hours. Once I’ve proved myself, as long because website being developed is something that your customer is willing to pay more for, I’d start at at least 15 an hr and go after that. It’s all regarding selling yourself and proving you are worth that significantly. That’s actually pretty reasonable, Ranma15g. When you are starting out, it’s better in order to charge a rate that will assist you to learn and confirm yourself. The only drawback is that will probably be an absolute ***** that will raise that rate for your particular client once you’ve succeeded in doing so… but you can charge more with the newer businesses you pick up to balance which … Continue reading

Advice for new designer/developer

As another guy to the business of website design (am retired), you can find occasional, logistical items that arise and am uncertain how to deal with. I hope this is actually the appropriate forum for this thing. Easily design a site to get a customer (I work with DW CS5), is that code typically paid to the shopper, once the bill may be paid Sure, for a small fee, I am going to continue to do edits into the content. And for your larger fee, do edits to the layout. But easily am no longer serious about doing maintenance, for whatever reason, I can just hand over a current copy of the code, on a disc to customer. Right And if customer hires someone else for maintenance on the site, that person seriously isn’t tied to DW, but can modify code anyway he/she see fit Many thanks. You’re going to find a alternatively different approach nowadays… the sites are usually installed, configured, as well as customized… the people change content on their own dynamically. This is definitely typical with Live journal, Joomla, Drupal, or another type of powerful CMS (content management system). Static sites carried out with DW are more … Continue reading
