Big Dreams

Relating to a dream to produce a web based store with this particular design scheme much like this site below: http: //www. wave. com/en_US/tidesimplepleasures/escape/index. jsp The matter is I am new to all this html, css language and so can anyone say to me where I must start and or having any particular products if applicable WHEN I should use. So Allow me to fulfill my goal! Id advise you to use CubeCart despite the fact that you dont have got to spend 100s associated with hours deveoping that cart system, It comes using 3 skins and when I remember correctly then 1 of the skins is a fairly comparable to what you are looking for all you have to do is modify the dew images to suit what you need and edit one or two CSS entries inside a text editor alothugh username advise using dreamweaver would make things alot less difficult. heres an example from the recent project, not CubeCart but youll get the thought of using CSS Code: body background-color: #FFFFFF; background-image: url(.. /images/b1. gif); margin: 6px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-color: FFCC00; font-size: 14px; peak: 22px; . header background-image: url(.. /images/header. png); peak: 145px; width: 800px; … Continue reading

Career Switch

I’m from management background but desire to switch to internet designing. I get learnt HTML, CSS and javascript but I’d like to see to get necessary skills to create really good internet websites which require knowhow of lot of technologies. Someone told me it is good to design websites with the help of Visual Studio to generate your sites appearance professional and should you be seriouslly into webdesigning you need to get MCAD. We would like your advice is that this true and what regarded as a learn to make professional websites. packages are all nicely and good, but cant really replace CSS and (x)HTML, as so often is the case, simple is best. just check out what current skilled website designers are doing and try to emulate this, this is probably the easiest way to learn what goes and precisely what doesnt. MCAD Image Studio Eh Visual Studio would likely only be used in case you wanted to create ASP. NET sites — which can be not entirely extremely hard. There are, on the other hand, other server-side engineering, such as PHP, usual ASP, Ruby on Rails, Perl, and others. By the end of the time, I have yet … Continue reading

Some books?

Without doubt ok I wanna start out designing websites. I am aware some HTML nonetheless I wanna know what else I will need to learn. I read that i should learn HTML, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, as well as PHP. Is that true I have learned to make easy internet websites using Macromedia Dreamweaver. What books must i get to learn Does someone even need ebooks Very true to the, but: ONE. Do HTML/XHTML initial. They’re just regarding the same, just some different syntaxes. XHTML will be variant of HTML. ONLY TWO. Then do CSS, to be able to style. Only in case you get these not one but two in grip, it is possible to start designing web sites. THREE. Javascript can proceed now, but don’t proceed too deep in buying it yet. It’s not important to learn loads of complex stuff like AJAX without delay. SEVERAL. Learn PHP/ASP/RoR/other server-side language you need to learn to complete. This is with regard to creating dynamic web-sites in ways you cannot do with the rest. Perhaps, but it’s never easy to make a good site by using anything. DW will slightly be useful to suit your needs once you start moving forward … Continue reading

New to HTML & Web Design – Looking for a web editor

Ive built one page for a web site constructor – and I realize these are crappy. I now have very basic code understanding (slighlty understanding css) My question is what will be the BEST web site editor program make use of My friend recommended Dreaemweaver 8: I downloaded some sort of trial version and up loaded a pre-made template which was in html & Css. Dreamweaver seems incredibly complicated (and expensive easily want to obtain it) So why is it consequently expensive Is coffee beans cup, homesite or FrontPage every different Ive heard bad reasons for FrontPage but confused why everyone would seem so down about it. Ive also utilized Frontpage to edit a generic template and it seemed easier in comparison with dreamweaver. Does Frontpage mess while using code somehow MY SPOUSE AND I heard they use unnecessary code generating SEO difficult. Anyway- any insight is great – I’d prefer to choose A SINGLE editor and stay with it! Right now Im trying a lot of different programs as well as its confusing myself. Dreamweaver is fine only should you stay in this Code view. The minute you use the WYSIWYG editor inside any program will be moment you … Continue reading

absolute or relative positioning?

hi. Im really confused relating to this. I have started building a website in dreamweaver using a table. I have centered the dining room table. The challenge starts when i attempt to using layers. I need to layer quite a few text over the image. If i use absolute positioning the text will forever remain at some sort of fixed point next time i resize the browser (which is pointless). When i employ relative positioning layer will never lie together with the image. It is very frustrating. can someone offer a sugguestion please gives thanks. Make the image a background image of the table, or dump the actual table and learn how to use divs. Putting text together with an image described in HTML is never the way to do it. Including Eddy said, the best ways to put word over an graphic is you fill out an application that image as a background. I strongly propose you dump the table in addition and go CSS up! Check the sticky within the HTML/CSS forum or in my sig to the WHY’s and HOW’s Male, cyberspace claimed this post, but MY SPOUSE AND I said what karinne reported, and even provided … Continue reading

how do companies test your skills before hiring?

For starters, do they genuinely do that I found a new design firm trying to find production assistants this summer. Not looking for the money (although Now i’m glad its a PAID internship! ) but more with the experience. My goal is to phase out this freelancing and work with several companies because I’d prefer my resume and portfolio to indicate more than just projects I did for several consumers. This company expects people to learn a fair a higher level CSS, RSS, HTML DOCUMENT, Dreamweaver, ectera.. none of the heavy stuff just like PHP. But I expect that parallel my 2 years of experience they may ask questions or ask if i could demonstrate my own skills. What does one think they’d want me to perform I will say that that working traditionally with Flash in addition to CSS has steered me off from Javascript functions and pop-up windows. Gives thanks. P. VERTS: The last publish I made in relation to integrated marketing ended up being very stupid.. WHEN I should’ve simply googled them. I’ve found together with interviews for jobs which have been for HTML, CSS stuff, they seem to check more at your portfolio, but it does … Continue reading

advanced web design resources

I realize HTML, CSS, a few PHP, and a number of Javascript. I can code an internet site .. I even learn my way all over Gimp 2 quite well. I tough to create attractive, visually stunning internet sites like I see other members develop. I have searched online but I haven’t much found anything containing given me information about how to take my designs into the next level. Can anyone offer just about any websites, books, or help in this problem With thanks There are 3 OR MORE main elements that enter a site’s deisgn – simple use, up-to-date, and personality (in my personal opinion). should do a bunch with usability. Designs that work is usually more beautiful subsequently one with dazzling images but is hard to apply (i. e, little textual images, etc). Because of this , a lot with sites use text for his or her navigation system plus such, not images – not alone because text is simple to operate, people are used to having the same sort of font everywhere across the web, making all of them feel more " on home". It’s also why icons are employed sparingly and not each alternate thing uses … Continue reading

The usual alternative they certainly is provide some sort of non-flash version of this site (which is truly a good idea, the flash is absolutely necessary). Of training course, no flash whatsoever might be much better. There are wide ranging problems. For case, each page of an HTML site may be optimized around an alternative keyword. Search applications, even if these people index a flash file, see it mutually big page — with one list of keywords. Try a hybrid site, split off the particular text into HTML CODE and add the particular Flash via a new javascript technique. Those who have javascript not power on or no flash player see a pleasant looking site. People that have the extras see the extras. Certainly, progressive enhancement is a best path inside any situation. Your site should be in (X)HTML+CSS. Javascript and Flash needs to be optional. (Says whomever whose current job revolves around creating a Javascript-based webapp ) Google Unobtrusive Flash Objects – a progressive technique for accomplishing this finish.
