Hi, My business is designing a website to get a high school key work, and was asking yourself if anyone could give their thoughts on any ideas with the site. The website may be for a multimedia developing company, so I was thinking the design will have to be suited for a grownup audience and agree with the environment. Any input involved in legibility of the screen designs, option layout, white area, titles, fonts etc can be greatly appreciated. Thankyou. Might you give us an illustration of your technique level If it is an actual clientele, organize a meeting with them and discuss with them type a website they are searhing for, what they are thinking of getting out of the website and in addition ask them to present you among a website that they feel is ‘successful’. Based on their comments, make your creativity have its course! If it’s a hypothetical client, scope market trends for ‘potential competitors’ along with go one improved. Enjoy. Use typical fonts for subject matter areas.. verdana, arial are popular and work nicely. Design for 800×600, It remains to be the standard resolution and probably always will probably be. What’s Everyone Got Against Tables???

I can remember a while back while i asked what has been so bad regarding using frames, I was given many compelling reasons why they should be avoided. Flash forward many years later and now out of the blue I’m checking out and about the Open Source Web design, and it amounts to just almost every web site is bragging about how exactly they built the full thing without tables. No tables Exactly what is the reasoning behind which The reasons Better alternatives in div’s, spans, absolute positioning, and CSS. Fact is we were holding designed to present tabular data, not tailored for designing websites. However as a developer you should utilize what you look is needed given that your client won’t object. As an illustration I have not used tables within a while, but used these to outputdata retrieved at a database. Hope this helps Most definately helps, thanks. Now all that remains is designed for me to evaluate how those websites practice it with the divs and spans and total positioning and css. absolute positioning will last somewhat abstract layouts. If all you would like is a SEVERAL x 2 box layout, use platforms. It’s basically the suitable … Continue reading

First post: Charset issue – suspected server problem affecting web pages

About my server (run because of the wonderful folk with Media Temple) that will serves my web page Pixelsurgeon (which is currently undergoing a redesign) the DefaultCharset in the primary httpd. conf is actually ISO-8859-1, but I’m wondering if it needs to be set to UTF-8. For illustration of the condition check out bug #4 here: http: //dropbox. pixelsurgeon. com/bugs/ which is an XHTML page set to UTF-8. There are a few double-byte characters (Japanese, China, Korean) and several accented characters and several Polish. Instead connected with displaying correctly, which jointly do using UTF-8, they manifest as gibberish. HOWEVER – in the event you MANUALLY set the particular Text Encoding to help UTF-8 (for example View > Textual content Encoding > UTF-8 in Firefox) everything snaps just how it should. It’s almost as if the text encoding fact < meta http-equiv=" content-type" content=" text/html; charset=utf-8" /> in the head is becoming ignored. Locally on my machine (Mac OSX which uses a version of UTF-8 for text encoding) everything is fine and also the page works precisely as it should. It just stops working when uploaded towards server. The most apparent thing I can think about is a mismatch somewhere between … Continue reading

PostgreSQL

Ok so since I see a lot of people worshipping it I though We’d investigate. While having a review of the psql I noticed there’s no function to start using a certain database, or as a minimum not simiar to help MySQL anyway, any ideas what it is You specify it within the connection string to be able to phpfunctionpg_connect/phpfunction. For illustration: PHP: $handle  =  pg_connect(“host=localhost  user=somebody  password=password  dbname=database”); I became refering to smoking ‘psql’ to postgred as opposed to through php, might have known it would you that replied Oh. It’s a command-line argument once you begin it. Type typethispsql –help/typethis. Once you’re actually into the psql client, it’s nothing like the MySQL consumer. It’s not truly better nor a whole lot worse, just different. another question just what module dlls must i need to place in php Have no idea of; I only apply PHP on Linux in addition to FreeBSD. I believe it’s just referred to as php_pgsql. dll. yea ive taken away the semi colon from in front of the extension=php_pgsql. dll and POST read here and it also says I really need to run the initdb order, I have accomplished this and got this particular … Continue reading

Web Graphics

My business is creating a trend website and I would prefer to know how/where I could get pictures to add to my website with no violating any that copyright law. Buy them on online world. istockphoto. com (or much the same site that sells the right to use them). Then you definitely have legal rights to use them, for simply a buck or 2 each. Usually, on any different website, get permission in writing by the site owner to utilize their photos, images, or graphics. Or, create your personal photos and/or paintings… original art done yourself. If a website happens to consider an RSS feed that has photos along with word, you might be ready use them, as they are offering these folks for REALLY SIMPLY SYNDICATION readers. It would require a link back. Maybe recommended to check with your website owner (not sure of how you are using the photos). I suppose almost every other use of pics or graphics can be violating copyright laws. Thanks… Searh within the yahoo and google using the term free graphic for fashion design and style. Then copy the pictures in your computer. Add it in your web page. Zaff… " free" would … Continue reading

How to change link color in div?

Come to a decision change the link color of hospitality attire specific div in addition to another color throughout antother div Thanks! Inline CSS over-rides any CSS with your. css file. Inline CSS will involve adding some CSS rules directly inside the tag. Illustration: < div id=" content" style=" background-color: #7e45a4; " > Regardless of background color was specified in the CSS file for that id called " content", the actual inline CSS could over-ride it. Besides using inline kinds (I am personally not only a fan of doing things that way), I’d suggest creating a new CLASS and establishing the style in your css style linen. Then you can certainly apply and do it where ever you should. Just make sure its at the end of the sheet it overrides what happens to be there. I totally agree with DesignVHL, create a class may be the best approach. For anyone who is not already using Firefox with all the Firebug addon, do yourself a favor and get them. Firebug would allow you to edit the css to find out what your changes would mimic prior to editting this css. Best of luck with this. GeorgeO.

Trying to find a functional theme

Hello there, i’ve had this site for a time, but only not long ago have i started off editting it once more. I like the entire neon green, forest green, black large contrast combo, but i know there might be more thats done from it. Does anyone have any suggestions for almost any other variants i could truthfully add, or modify my own current theme having My site is my signature. I attempt to make my internet site browser-friendly and there’s no doubt that that kills 50 percent of it for the reason that im limited into the browser colors, but not ambient colors. If anyone knows the right way to include specific rgb color values that happen to be browser-friendly, i’d like to hear about that. Thanks. Only want to bump this… telling we’re not overlooking it… I think make use of Google to discover browser-friendly colors. http: //www. yahoo. com/searchhl=en& q=find cell phone friendly colors& btnG=Search Your web blog (and likes/dislikes) will be too personal. We would all have diverse opinions. Illustration… I hate charcoal pages with bright text. As a result of, that should for no reason be done. As well as dark green along with white … Continue reading
