I will have the files uploaded towards department server, but I want them to end up being searchable (so this other instructors will get similar documents). What do you recommend I use allowing searching given we need support for. pdf,. tex, in addition to standard word/text files Many thanks, Barry Hi Peter, I believe LaTeX will learn. tex and. pdf file docs. Later Word docs will be able to be parsed since plain HTML, nonetheless earlier ones are usually binary, like PDF. Because there’s a really variation, I think you happen to be gonna be hard-pressed in obtaining a single pre-built solution that can read everything. Another thing you might consider to create your life easier is merely using Google’s site-search aspect. Google reads Pdfs, Word docs, and HTML no problem. I actually started off this topic as a result of m3n0tu18 topic wherever CMSs like " freecms" along with " Scratch" ended up mentioned. So managed to get curious about the number of more alike were around. In several days we could possess a poll and just what not.. granted that actibity about this topic justifies. theres numerous cms’s around, the ones i have found being quite interesting are usually: Hubpages, Drupal, Joomla JUST ONE. 7 and CMSfromscratch… if your in the beginning stages with CMS’s we definately recommend CMSFromScratch because its very easy to work with and almost every HTML Template may be used. < that is unless you discover how to create html web themes. Every one of the CMS’s I mentioned will require PHP as a backbone though. Which means you will still have WAMP, XAMP as well as MAMP for localhosting that on. Personally I spent a good weekend learning How Joomla works and getting it working with what i desired. Now i will not look back ‘! I do not understand why a CMS would be used offline, unless as well … Continue reading
