Howdy all.
A search here for " website software" found better discussions about a year old. So I would like to start a fresh thread…. here is what I understand and my fears:
ONE PARTICULAR. vBulletin is " the common. " Most every serious forum employs it. It uses PHP which is extremely reliable. Excellent support forum. Price tag about $80.
A COUPLE OF. InvisionBoard is cost-free, the best " free" website software, and 90% competitive with vBulletin, by all accounts. Also employs PHP, also is known for a great support community forum. The main distinction: not quite as simple to modify. (Not that they are confused with " Infoboard" in addition to " Ikonboard. " )
Therefore, it seems if you ask me the 2 decisions are vBulletin and also InvisionBoard. However I am not a programmer and We have these questions:
SEVERAL. WHAT IS THE MOST BENEFICIAL CGI FORUM ALONG WITH SEARCH-FRIENDLY URLs
I just did plenty of surfing for " directory-making" scripts at resourceindex. com—and it seems that PHP scripts NEVER advertise " seek friendly URLs. " So I am assuming, PHP are unable to do this
We have discussed about " seek friendly URLs" right here before. Yes, Google while others do list vBulletin pages. However, after surfing a lot of sample directories—it is quite clear to me the fact that pages with so-called " search-friendly" URLs complete attract more PUBLIC RELATIONS value and cache indexing.
Also: I am mindful that vBulletin offers modifications that manufacture " search helpful pages. " And possibly this can be more desirable than almost every thread appearing to be a normal web web page. However, it is not similar, and there are times when i might like to host a totally search-friendly forum. So, can anyone propose " the best" script for a really forum
4. Any comments within the different advantages connected with PHP vs. CGI software would also be of interest to me. My guess is the fact that PHP is a lot more easy to modify—but evidently CGI has several clear advantages, such as the ability to manufacture " dynamic" web pages together with URLs that are similar to " static" pages. (Or please correct me only am wrong! )
There isn’t any best script, in addition to actually, it has more to do with your. htaccess understanding than forum software program.
Also, CGI has no advantage within this sense you’re thinking… none whatsoever.
