farm website- need server-side advice

Circle Right Farm is a farm that provides a vegetable subscription service ( aka CSA). We currently employ a website (roundrightfarm. com) that is mostly informational. I’d like to add several server side capabilities but don’t have any knowledge of sever-side ‘languages’. I only know html/css plus a wee bit connected with javascript. our subscription assistance currently works this way: customers sign upwards and pay at the start of the time (before June ) as well as a box of produce is fed to a location close to them where they pick it up once a week in the harvest season (june-september). Right now, the contents from the box are the identical for every customer and they are chosen by the farm influenced by what is inside season and available.

I want to provide the customer much more choice by allowing them to check out online what the common box will become that week in order to give them the possibility to make generate substitutions based on a list of what is available and also to give them the option to purchase extra items that week.

This can involve several features:

  1. an easy way to do to update your website each week plus display the contents of the standard box as well as which items are select for substitution/ additional purchase
  2. a login web site for customers to view a form to indicate their 7days choices, both alternatives and additional items
  3. an easy way to do to access in addition to print our customers weekly choice information
  4. an account page for each customer that will display current harmony, subtract additional merchandise purchase prices from the balance, and allow them to add money to their balance using a credit card
  5. a way to store the report of customer choice in the season.

to set the following all up is actually my motivation to find out more about server side web development, so I am seeking advice on the most beneficial language(s) to make this a reality and also some tips about the best general architecture in the site- of the best ways to make this all work. I am hoping not to spend many months working only to understand my approach is highly inefficient

you may want to find just what server side scripting langauges are offered on the server you’re using…

personally I really like PHP, it also seems like you may get some database functionality helpful also (though you might just use files to save lots of data)… MySQL is classically used in combination with PHP…

you do have a steepish learning curve well before you…. but this is a very satisfying one so carry on the good perform!!

Get your book on Amazon regarding PHP and MySQL.

You’ll use PHP/MySQL to make the scripts and database.

Just like Hagen says… a bit of a learning curve.

Because what you’re describing is such a good idea and you
manage to have the base clients to deal with it online… a person might
desire to consider hiring someone to complete the program for you personally.

Also consider accepting credit homemade cards online… another
expenditure, but that would be a part of doing business.

I would imagine you will find tax write-offs for this type of thing.
