Hi. I made an internet site for a client (my new ever). I employed Dreamweaver. Now that we am done I’d prefer to turn your files and layouts.. everything.. over to the woman so if she desires to hire someone else later on she can make it happen. Should I put everything with a CD and mail it I am not quite sure what direction to go. Can’t she received them through ftp She has no web expertise so I’m simply just… yeah, confused. Just about any suggestions would enormously be appreciated!
Get your payment first if you are getting paid. I usually upload your website for the client if they request otherwise WE package it within a. zip file and send it to them in conjunction with instructions on the right way to upload the internet site.
If I was you I might personally try and maintain the actual uploading of the files. Why
Therefore the client keeps your current folder structure (such since you having a includes folder plus the client placing all files on the root. )
Make sure you ask if she has FTP details, and yeah produce. zip anyway plus keep it for your portfolio.
Amen to the next,.
If she has no web know-how, we can think that she could have to get someone to aid her actually have the site " live" on the web. If you are ready help her together with that, you could tell her that you can do so, perhaps for one more fee. If you are not ready help her having that, I would squeeze files on some sort of CD and mail it to the woman’s (or. zip it plus email it to her depending on how big the site is) because anybody she does retain the services of to upload should know what direction to go from there.
Congratulations against your first site! Seeing that said, keep a message of it for your portfolio.
thanks for all the advice! i uploaded your website so her consumers can already apply it and stuff. im just much less big of a new computer geek as i would prefer to be in addition to didnt know the direction to go. like i claimed, this is the first client previously (and yes instant messaging getting paid! ) wooho! its an incredibly small site it was a beneficial beginner. i am contemplating going in as well as adding comments in order to let her know where she can try it out and edit text since she’s no web knowledge whatsoever. but then wouldnt the lady have to learn how to connect through file transfer protocol im going in an attempt to give her the very best directions i can, but the trouble is i dont even really learn how to go in in the event that im not opting through dreamweaver! yikes.
The short answer to your question is actually " yes, she will have to know how for connecting through FTP. " Although, there are some other questions that probably need to be asked:
How is she about to edit the text
Does she get access to Dreamweaver
Can there be a risk that she could potentially wreck the web site layout by simply editing the textual content (for example, accidentally deleting a tag after which uploading that file for the server).
It appears as though you should target these issues (if people haven’t already) because if things have messed up because she would not do something effectively, I imagine she will be calling you for assistance.
You could consider getting her to work with Adobe Contribute: http: //www. adobe. com/products/contribute/. It is supposed to make it quick for non-web geeks that will update their site ourselves. Although we have got never used this, I have heard nutrients about it and also am sure that may be meshes very properly w/ Dreamweaver data.
