Hi,
I posted this on one of many other boards yesteryear but thought It’s safe to re-post now We have calmed down a little. I have a new relatively new job (NOT in the container, web design, communications or anything at all remotely relevant including that) and the boss has asked me to help with the webpage. We have an Access 07 databases of sites (grid recommendations, disabled toilets etc) and need to create an active image map and form that income the requested facts. I know it needs to be pretty straightforward, I just don’t learn how to do it. I have experience as the designer but coming from, oh, about 6-8 typical, and that ended up being just building somewhat functionless sites intended for information only. I have a new vague idea that MySQL arrive into this certain times, but when plus how is further than me.
The present site was written by another, maintained by another and has virtually nothing related to me. It seemed to be written in dreamweaver, hosted with BT… very dreary, ordinary SME products. I’m confident enough about developing a hyperlinked image map however the form / database has left myself completely lost. I don’t learn much about relational listings or SQL from the start, so, I’m somewhat worried.
I need two things: I have to know how to help it become work, and how to make sure it can be safe. As a charity there is no question of paying out a programmer to sort it out for us, if I can’t undertake it myself it would not get done… and it also HAS to receive done. Apparently, by means of Tuesday (they’re optimists).

Hand your management a copy of one’s job description and get him to point into the part where you will need to do web maintence. When he can’t stage to it smirk and leave his office.
I know little about gain access to. What I carry out is that if you can not know what your own doing its greatest to outsource the item to someone whom does know. Otherwise you will have bugs and other issues which could lead to losses far beyond the original cost to do the work on the webpage.
It may just be the dynamic image chart but if getting older work then any potentially paying visitor may be turned off your website. Thus the loss.
I’ve done something very much alike this in past times which was as already stated using an graphic map, using co-ordinates to mark out weblink areas. Bit time intensive if I keep in mind!
