stupid layout questions…

I am such a n00b lol consequently hopefully these concerns are easy enough that you should help me using. I am applying dreamweaver and fireworks to perform a couple web sites for myself and several friends. I know how to do a really basic php site and still have done so I would like very much to obtain a shadow effect much like the one in this picture below about the table on my personal site. *NOTE* I didnt make this nor do i attempt to require any credit for this I merely used it as one example of what i would like to do to help mine. Suggestions for a coder who wants to delve into web ‘design’

Hello everyone, That is my first posting here, so hello! I am here for some suggestions. We’ve a BS in CS and have taken a category or two on web site design but it’s been with a year and We have forgotten most of what I had learned. I use a programming background in addition to am currently working like a web applications developer; I’ve picked way up C#/. NET/SQL plus am loving the item. Every day I am learning cool things and I’d prefer to continue that will explore data-driven web sites. So what the heck am MY SPOUSE AND I here for I have always been weak using the ‘design’/visual/creative elements regarding website creation and wish to know where to start. I am knowledgeable about CSS (don’t recall much, but I know I can get familiar with it again). We’ve used GoLive (code/designer view split), and Adobe ImageReady. I’ve recently gained involvement in learning Flash in the process. I don’t expect to find out complicated animations, but simple ones which could really enhance the planning and appeal on the site. Howdy. This is my own first post here. I am a good programmer, but not some sort of designer. I desire to make a library website for your library. I only require a few pointers regarding what should go on the home display screen, what the layout needs to be, etc. I may probably do the graphics, but I have no clue what to produce. Hello there there, this is actually my first publish here… Nevertheless, I just made a website and I delivered electronically its layout coming from another site. I edited the HTML as well as CSS and WHEN I also used this PHP include() job. I had a few problems, but WE solved them. Nevertheless… see my linked image Yeah, ours. This is the site. See that unusual black thing under the banner It’s not said to be there. I’ve checked virtually all the site’s files and nothing is going wrong. ; however ,, what’s going upon there I didn’t post this inside a specific help forum(HTML support, PHP help) because I don’t know what causes this. [Complete n00b to web development] Need suggestions on how to code this mockup ..

HOWDY guys… Well We have a little part-time selling thing happening as a pastime, and I’m wanting to make a really basic web page through which customers can indicate which items they need to buy, and what custom options they demand for organizations options.. As they are making selections, an overall displayed on the best side keeps changing of showing the update total cost depending on the options selected with the user.. So its kind of like what you view on custom computer building sites where users select selections to customize its machines.. In the completed the user gets into their email address inside a box and clicks on a button, which sends me an email with the complete configuration chosen because of the user so i always can examine the idea..
