How do you add those temporary floating windows seen in commercial sites?

Many sites now showcase a floating eye-port (splash screen) which can be an advertisement for any limited amout of their time before disappearing. I don’t know what this is known as but I’d like to know how it is done. I’m sure splash screens aren’t a huge hit, but my web page takes a few seconds to load up and I need to to provide a brief window which pops up upon first visit and the quickly disappears after a matter of seconds. Anyone really know what this technique is named and how to do it Thanks, Paul Getting a few solutions, it could possibly be a webpage opened having a set width in addition to height, position or anything else.. Or getting a floating part (http: //www. yahoo. co. uk/searchhl=en& q=floating layers& btnG=Google Search& meta=) Your second item (http: //www. sivamdesign. com/scripts/dwld/lys_pop. html) looks like you could customize it to cease afte x mere seconds (using a setTimeout).

Homepages?

Wasn’t sure where for you to post this and so I figured here will be it. Wanted your tips and feedback on tips on how to layout or exhibit home pages, (the listing page that is) I’ve always prefered quite a few information/text of some sort on the home page in regards to the site or announcement or something similar, I client i am designing for has called for just an impression and basically the particular title. I’ll happily accomplish that if they wish that but was wondering on your thoughts, do you like an Enter site (as thats approximately all it is) or does one prefer to have some text/info once you enter sites i usually open onto a brand new page, in the exact same layout of the rest of the site, but displaying news, it stops the actual visitors from required to search around for a little bit looking for changes. if i had to have an external(ish) opening page with a website (also generally known as a splash screen) i’d have something similar to the one at http: //www. bwoup. com/ because its a little bit interesting! Entry pages are an effective way to stop visitors … Continue reading

Program Start Up Screens

I think they may be called " splash screens" but dress yourself in be something somewhat different. Thanks a lot! Are you currently talking about web pages, or native products (PC software) For every website, I would avoid splash screens. Right now there really is absolutely no purpose to get them, and they will simply add also more clicks, or even more " waiting" for your user. Neither of the things are exactly what users want once they visit a website. This example you gifted, like MS Term, is actually some thing they show though software is definitely loading. Web pages are different then native executable software package. No not really a website. I actually need one attached into a. pdf file whenever you open it. Where would I find details on the subject With thanks! You would need a program complier… No way to hijack that adobe executable ( that splash screen is included in one of thier your local library ), to present the screen … Continue reading
