Question to the web designers/developers (out of curiosity)

Did going through college If you have, which major(s) Traveled to university for a term including a half. Majored throughout math/accounting. Left because I became bored and because I learned that 70% with my tuition money didn’t check out my education. I was spending money on things say for example campus bar which constantly ran at a negative balance and a student hall Pondered never heard associated with. I asked with regard to refunds on those tips since I acquired never used these, or to be provided the option to pay more for them, and had been told no. I asked to consider the course at home to save some cash and was fundamentally told in a lot of words that this idea was completely ridiculous which no one will ever accept mastering online. There’s nothing wrong with planning to a post-secondary education if you’re able to actually learn some thing. It’s a different story when you are there to purchase a degree. Yeah I became thinking of going to a technical university. I’ve heard towards the more hands-on approaches and less theory-based whatnots. Could they be underrated I do think it really is determined by what they coach you … Continue reading

How do you secure your sites?

Without doubt Everyone, New to the forums here. I’m searching for feedback from designers and web developers who freelance or be employed by companies who create sites for customers. Have you observed customers asking about security How do you certify to customers the site you build is secure, specifically e-commerce sites Virtually any tips Thank you! You’re not likely to find a great deal of information on this kind of topic, just because lots of people will keep its security measures secret (and with great reason). But locations of the stuff I do. SSL. Should you be collecting sensitive facts, you need a single. This isn’t sometimes up for issue, either… most payment processors require one (assuming you collect payments against your site in contrast to redirecting users to a hosted payment page). Encrypt sensitive data on the server side. In a health club prefer Triple DES encryption because it’s what the particular payment processors make use of, but that’s simply just me. It’s also possibly not my only way of security. Don’t store plastic card info. The final four digits is usually fine, but storing the remaining info is asking for trouble. If you never store it, you’re not … Continue reading

Freelancing, Hiring, & Taxes

When planning a freelance webdesign organization, I was wondering how we handle taxes In the event you help out a number of people with web sites would you like to get a business license And when you hire web developers on a case-by-case schedule, are they theoretically employees Just curious how those of you running freelance web design businesses handle these things. The short, concise answer: " this depends". This will depend on how a person hire web developers/designers. They could be contractors or precise employees. I prefer the first kind myself, but to each their unique. This will depend on the tax laws as part of your state or province. In my specific case, I should register for a good HST (Harmonized Revenue Tax) number and charge and remit the ridiculous 13% tax to any Canadian customers, although I " obtain it back because with my expenses" (most of which are HST-exempt anyway). This will depend on how people register yourself (either for a contractor under your own name or like a business name). A business name requires a company license. I had just one for five years after which it gave it up because I had been my … Continue reading

SEO conundrum

What would it be about SEO who has everyone in an uproar A decade back I recalled chatting with this SEO expert this just seemed washboard out bitter in addition to very negative. I figured of which she was mean caused by her age along with religion. A few days ago, I read a post by Alex Builder of FDC Studio that’s also an SEARCH ENGINE MARKETING expert. He took shots at web developers and developers as well, called us incompetent plus some more sh*t. He’s definitely not a new happy camper. I also came across this other publish that completely discredits this SEO profession. What I sooo want to know after the many smoke clears out is this; why is them the SEO experts have very inadequate or average page rankings Why do some of them despise designers As well as, outside of the obvious regarding SEO, can an pro really make of which magic happen (without the usage of dirty tricks) or is it luck On the flip side of their coin, I have discovered designers/ developers this rarely discuss SEARCH ENGINE MARKETING, but some how often have a better page ranking than numerous experts. With that at … Continue reading
