Designing for Art Display – Help Appreciated

Howdy. I would recognize the value of some advice regarding website design for art exhibit. My sister is often a budding artist who wishes to own a home starting to showcase your ex artwork. How does one attempt designing such something I’m a beginner, myself, and I don’t know where to start.

What shall be most effective I want it to glimpse nice, but I know I would like to keep the item simple. Black and white overlays considering the background perhaps staying some variation of an 50% gray, to be able not to detract in the artwork when the item displays. Then, perhaps several designs in the borders and dividers and such. I thought in relation to introducing a slight little bit of color by using a prism-like range but I’m not sure how to use this.

The art form displayed shall be in sequential variety (i. e. comics, manga) with multiple pages related to each story, so I understand that navigation can be key. This is perhaps a little more complicated that an effective portfolio, as much organization is required for the individual stories and the preceding chapters in addition to pages. But what is a great size for display with regards to a page of manga Why don’t you consider resolution Learn how to balance image good quality and loading speed For navigation from the individual stories, would it end up being better to devise a way wherein only your image changes without the remaining page having to load every time you click in store the next site

For that matter, what dimesions shall be best for the page itself

What is important I want to recognise is… what regarded as a use Where a few pointer start I’m ready to learn, but I want some direction. We have Photoshop CS2 from my disposal yet nothing else, in addition to Notepad. Point me in the right direction!

Thank you for any help you might provide,
Erin

Measurement of page:

POST use – 820 px broad. Therefore no issue for lower decision users. I typically make the written content area around 750 px — 800 px.

If you learnt a certain amount of PHP – WE found this a good method for dynamically exhibiting the artwork. Otherwise you end up having to make untold volume of seperate html pages.

Lucky for you to have Photoshop. We have found that art sites need careful optimisation to look for a balance among fast download without detracting from the actual colours (mainly brightness I’ve found) of the pictures. I personally located that optimising any JPG to 50% within the " save for web" feature regarding photoshop, the size of the file went along massively, but the pic stayed identical (to my eye). I wouldn’t proceed below 50% intended for large pics in any other case the colours will dull. However play about with gif’s also. Experiment to find your settings that you like.

For thumbnails however I found I could go 40% or 30% at any push, seeing as they quite simply are smaller and the degredation in quality doesn’t matter so much.

For a page of manga I would go as wide that they can personally – related to 750 px
The user have to scroll down.

I personally attempt to use the artist’s art work regularly in the design in the site – to get designs for edges, headers, play close to with masking their art, blurring as well as blending it, cutting bits out to make patterns, that kind of stuff.

Hope that gets you on your own way.

Photoshop can be quite much your friend on this particualar instance IMHO.

Many thanks so much regarding replying, and believe it or not, it really gives me an excellent starting point. Significant amounts of the work arises from preparing her true artwork and getting hired to spec. Lucky to do, most of your girlfriend work is in black and white inks, so color degradation isn’t a great deal of of an challenge. 750 px sounds very good for width far too. As for the actual borders bit, I like the idea of using her graphics. I’ll play around a bit – it would probably make for anything unique. Perhaps a minimum of in the subject or backdrop as it.

Patient toying around with picking a class on web development. Perhaps that would be a good place to pick up a little bit of PHP. (It’s way too bad the training must wait right up until next summer, although. ) Got any good resources for martial arts training and how to utilize it in this particular instance

dhelix…

We can get you started off on some PHP products.

You must make sure your webhost lets PHP (most do).

Here’s the thing you need to do:

1) Consider how the navigation will probably be.
Will there often be several galleries which includes a sequence of photos in each gallery

2) If you upload files, put all the fullsize images of hospitality attire directory and all
from the thumbnails in an additional directory.

3) Create your main webpage and then create one web site that displays your
photo gallery how we want… the look along with layout (this might be a template
for all the other pages).

4) Create any text file that contains a list of all photos plus some navigation codes.
Each line is going to be one photo (the thumb, fullsize, title, etc)… just about every variable
divided by pipes (the critical above \ )

Case:

11pic1. jpgthumb1. jpgtitlecaptionetcetc
12pic2. jpgthumb2. jpgtitlecaptionetcetc
13pic3. jpgthumb3. jpgtitlecaptionetcetc

It is possible to call that file, " photos. txt" and upload it into your main directory.

The 1st field indicates the actual gallery number
The next field is the actual photo number (sequence)
After that the fullsize shot filename
The thumb photo filename
title
caption
etc
etc

Whenever you get that far, the PHP script could open the text file and present all
of your respective pages using the internet you entered. The PHP script could handle
all the page creation, therefore you won’t have to set-up any static internet pages.
This you will save a ton of energy.

We can help you with the PHP when you finally get your website in place and make
the pages look precisely how you want them to take a look.
