Designing vs. coding

Question: throughout my college career I’ve said that I wanted to become web designer. In the last not too long the job descriptions are actually narrowed down a bit, but they are usually still not standardized from company that will company. In this meantime, I’ve found yourself in the realization of which I’m not very good at visualizing something creative, and WE hate to value. I like to consider other people’s creations/ideas in addition to put them mutually in HTML or Flash. Would you call which a web builder Exist many jobs around that would call for this type of ‘building’

coding is a huge part of website design (at the qualified level). I think if you want to make a website for any companies, you are likely to make everything side coded, all via scratch. You might be able to get away with some stuff such as using phpbb instead of making forums coming from scatch.

Its allow to take ideas from other internet websites, but dont message and paste value. You will join alot of problems. Only code you happen to be allow to message and paste usually are " open-source" code.

well there tend to be two basic jobs nowadays… web designer and web developer

designer will ‘design’ the the look layout colors plus typography fo your website (roughly anyway) plus the developer will value what the designer has come up with (layout colors, blah blah) along with the brief from we describing the funtionality (booking system, etc).

we’d consider myself any developer 1st plus foremost but I’ve had to study through to typography, color design and layout as MY PARTNER AND I do freelance job and crtainly cannot afford to cover a designer to your workplace for me.

this is a very very rough description that will probably be adjusted by others but gives you a basic strategy

Just remember your strengths also , you can build through to what you’re not good at yet, and always keep in mind that you have good friends, buddies, workmates and other developers (like everyone here) to be of assistance. The Web is a very unforgiving place : people come plus go faster which a fifty cent piece falling on the Empire State Creating (about 6 seconds). Nevertheless the Web is also a flexible in addition to adaptable medium, we can always make changes or maybe contribute – make full use of this. Just keep current and never prevent learning – that is vital. Stop working on the net for just one or two months and you’re certain to be behind at news about one or two things.

There’s actually a great deal of aspects of net development… web brands usually make styles, web programmers create, well, programs, and web-developers often get that bite after your website has been released, often just to boost. But there are numerous other aspects of designing for any web people disregard – accessibility, info architecture, user interfaces, individual psychology… a heap. Often the very best web designers won’t be just good in the basic 3, and learn these side-aspects… keep that in mind.

A edge note about amenable source code: also this, typically, cannot try to be copied and pasted’. Alternatively, it may require that you give appropriate attribution, etc.

It sounds like you’d want to work in a pretty large team where differing people do different projects. Many smaller companies employ a person or not one but two, and everybody models and everybody codes.

… there are various other aspects of designing with the web people forget – accessibility, info architecture, user interfaces, individual psychology… a heap.

Thanks everyone to your replies.

After looking around I found some sort of description of ‘production artist’ that is apparently close to what I’d like to see. Is that the same as ‘information architecture’

Zero!

Information architecture is concerning the organizational framework of content. Pass charts! These procede with going into this category which go under which category etc. Precisely how deep stuff is definitely, how it’s searched, etc. When you discuss information architecture, you’re mainly talking about navigation levels, and databases tables (if you do have a large site). There’s very limited design and style, layout and program code production involved.

Actually, the code and layout should be built around the info architecture in order to promote it!

IA is actually just about the most critical (and overlooked) aspects of web design. Lengthy menus, confusing mazes associated with content, odd location… they’re all due to poor Information Structures….
