404 .htaccess problem…

Upon my website (using Zen Cart) I am having problems with the 404 forwarding. It works so long as the wrong address is similar to this: Will there be a way I’ll make this work to ensure if a person types in: they are brought to: Many thanks. I think you could probably set way up an ErrorPage instruction that points it on the appropriate page. Accurate me if I’m wrong, but I’m not sure you can use. htaccess to validate the existence of a URL from a query string. I’m thinking you would have to use PHP to complete that, and to indicate an error page should the requested one isn’t going to exist. You may then use. htaccess to change that specific page into a proper 404 fault page. Good, I believe what exactly he was saying was which the software he’s applying already handles the particular wrong-querystring situation, but he also would like to handle the real 404 situation. The ErrorPage directive helps you specify an change URI for whenever 404s occur, so it should do just as well just fine. Oh yea yeah, I misread the particular post, thinking that he were going to rewrite the … Continue reading

CMS

Content material management systems. Currently I use tailor made built CodeIgniter amazing benefits for complex web sites. Blogger for websites which usually revolve around posting / article distribution / simple web site and content direction. phpBB for online communities. I’m thinking about reassessing precisely what I use for complex websites. I possibly could try to develop and develop upon wordpress, however I’m aware of Joomla along with Drupal. Could someone summarize the differences somewhere between Joomla and Drupal and why select one over another. The key difference, and alone you need to know: Drupal rocks, and Joomla will not. We switched via Joomla to Drupal about a year ago, and never viewed back. It’s Much better, I can’t even begin hinting… built-in SEO, core modules for Online community content, user profiles, book-style content material, and more, this Content Constructor Kit (CCK), which permits you to dynamically create every new content type you desire and define exactly how it works, interlinking associated with modules together, uncomplicated customization and invention of new quests, and on in addition to on… the all the list benefits seems endless. How I look at it really is this: Drupal is really a CMS for developers. It’s … Continue reading

UTF- and sql database isuue

This might now be the right forum for this issue but i did browse around before posting these for apprepriate website but anyways, suggestions little proble i’ve been facing. Relating to a database to get say news. Media are posted by users and end users can post applying unicode(UTF-8) somewhere in my page we need to display the all the list such news, not whole content material but say 300 charecters of each one news. With INCI char its no problem you can get using substr within the query for any desired availablility of charecters but! because we dont’ know whether this type of news is with INCII or seemed to be posted using unicode, as well as becuase unicode charecters require 5or 6 incii char in order to display one charecter, We can not use substr function inside query to find 300 charecters on the news, this would likely give me merely about 40 as well as 50 valid unicode chars if displayed. I am pretty sure there’s a way to diagnose unicode chars in the database and fetch desired amount of such charecters and I am hoping one of an individual guys could suggest me the way to … Continue reading

Multiple Language Website – How?

Hello all, I’m assembling a website within (I think) related to 7 languages. So I presume I build one website after which it make 7 copies of it as well as translate the text following that…. Would that end up being right Seems a tad long winded so I thought right now there might be a healthier way – can any individual offer any suggestions Or am I spot on throughout my assumption Thanks heaps ahead! Neil : ichatnervous: It really will depend on your website. When you’ve got a site which displays dynamic content (such to be a blog, articles, etc), content is already stored in any database. That content is stored in various directories as their own language. Cookies how the user has picked out will determine which in turn language to show… the scripts draw that content through the appropriate directory. I would go for a " template" type site the place that the base look is fixed, plus the subject material is pulled via various directories. Users select their language choice and that decision is saved being a cookie so they see a similar language when they come back later. It’s all about using PHP in … Continue reading
