What should i know about web design??

Hello all, ( quite a broad question to suit your needs ) Im fairly new to web site design – from a product / packaging / visualisation design and style background! I have learnt martial arts training in many areas of web design but rather than carry on about what i know i would really prefer to know just what i need to find out Kid design the major standard websites that you just all get asked to design! Need info on website/database
