.htaccess changing .html to .php
Merely wondering if it’s htacces(I’m like guessing) that allows to perform the same idea that this forum uses to change thread4342. html to obviously like showthread. phppage=4342 and so forth… how would I begin doing this Here I use a custom-written. htaccess archive that uses mod_rewrite. mod_rewrite calls for URLs and, assigned regular expressions, converts them to figureout in other platforms. It is not with the weak of heart and soul, especially if that you do not know regular expressions. Dang =/ I was hoping there’d be a less arduous way.. I’ve always snuck underneath the line when it comes to regular expressions.. editing other peoples’ work and melding it in mine. To me it will as well possibly be 21315413lsaf; lkjfdsa =/ Bless you anyway. Well as an example here, showthread. php is in the syntax: showthread. phps=sessionhash& threadid=threadid So the regexp to convert it will be: showthread. php\s=(a-f0-9*)& threadid=(0-9+) to thread$2. html … There’s no doubt that. The first regexp matches any hex string (or an empty string), and the second matches a variety with a minumum of one digit. It then maps the other match to the appropriate position in additional string. However confusing It took me … Continue reading

Which Server-Side language ?
I’m trying to decide which language is best for server-side digesting. My prefernce is actually toward PHP, although in fairness, I have not used a large number of. Listed below are the contenders: PHP CGI — C / C++ CGI — Perl CGI — Other JSP ASP — Visual Basic ASP — Perl Script ASP — Other Langauge Cool Fusion Sorry If i have left away any, there very hard maintain with. Feel free that include any write throughout votes. This will depend on the application. Every language has its ups and downs. My favorites are PHP and JSP. WHEN I haven’t tried ASP as well as ColdFusion yet. ASP with luck. I can’t get enough of that VB! My business is trying to study JSP now. It looks very difficult but I believe that it is worth learning because I do believe all Java based languages need to be rougly the similar, and anymore you will get away from finding out Java. Plus I listened to JSP kills the others where speed goes (except with regard to ColdFuson, which uses identical concept as JSP) Under no circumstances been a supporter of VB. Seemed like what you’d probably get if … Continue reading

Opinions needed…
Heya, Although I’m not likely starting out, I feel this can be some a n00bish concern: What ever suggest I utilized to layout my websites Currently, (Still using notepad I’ m frightened, don’t really find on with Dreamweaver) POST make all websites using Tables/Nested tables to produce the framework after which you can obviously add content, images, backgrounds, borders etc as essential. On the other hand, I’ve seen tiers used in loads of cases, along with Frames (Not wise IMHO) and PHP Comprises of. I’ve used loads of these approaches nevertheless I still carry on going back to past tables! What don’t you use and why are there any particular advantages Cheers for your help in progress, John Tables are the easiest way to lay out your blog post IMO. Everything else just gets too complicated or you will find too many compatibility issues. I’m keen on to use platforms to format any basic page, then work with a PHP include with regard to different content pages. I find this useful because if I want to change the particular designs or anything all I must do is edit the key page (since every one of the content pages are just … Continue reading

newb Q: images split up into tables
the key reason why do some pages have images/banners which have been divided up directly into tables what are advantages does the particular page load quciker and just how do i recreate that in dreamweaver im betting that its to do with the split device in photoshop basically i dont understand what they are, what they’re for and how to make ’em thanks in advance phil Several years ago, if you split images along the major lines involving color division, you could reduce file size significantly. Also, by means of splitting the photograph into multiple items, it could end up being assembled one piece at a time so that psychologically, the page doesn’t take so long to load. Those rules don’t apply the maximum amount today, because obtain speeds are considerably faster. If you could do it, though, make sure you specify a for your so that page doesn’t perform the " stretch and squeeze" consequence when loading. While using the slice tool throughout photoshop. Why people love doing this, are mainly the belief that you can create any design possible, this looks great, as opposed to having to pattern in boring platforms. When you slice up the particular image, … Continue reading
