liquid design & full screen text

Simply just wondering what various other design gurus think of using liquid design and having to deal with 1600×1200+ monitors in which make text span throughout the whole screen. Popular wisdom on the web design says that text should not span more compared to 4" wide from a column. Too difficult to read. I tend make use of liquid design on the majority of my sites because i’m keen on being able to take advantage of the whole screen. Sad to say, though, liquid design expresses that text will expand to fit the user’s filter, meaning you have got HUGE blocks regarding text that’s hard to read. Tips on how to guys work close to this Just style for 800×600 or perhaps 1024×768 and hope that individuals using 1600×1200 get good eyes Or perhaps there is some trick to making text break into multiple copy under higher file sizes I guess you may do this having js… Views I havent discovered this is generally there a link so i could read about this specific lol… Study up here: http: //www. webdesignforums. net/thread7769. html There’s a better way w/ js in making it 100% until x quantity of pixels have been … Continue reading

Web Safe Colors

What are the dangers of employing colors for web site design that arent ‘Web Safe’ Does it have to do with browsers I am talking about, do only old browsers must have colors that usually are ‘web safe’. Am I spending my time getting web safe colors to fit my site when it only benefits an extremely small percentage regarding people Furthermore, if I try a cholor scheme thats possibly not ‘web safe’ so how exactly does it appear with browsers that dont see made from correctly There’s no doubt that the ‘web-safe’ shapes and colours idea was created when some monitors only had that capability to show 256 colours. Given that most screens resolution can cope with 24-bit or more significant, I for one don’t follow the websafe principles. there are 216 web-safe colorations.. they were named that way because at lowest those common colors could be represented somewhat accuratly no matter what browser, monitor, THE GW990, etc.. your users viewing your website page are using. The one effect that would happen is all colors that are not websafe would display as a different color, generally the closest website safe color. People rules dont really apply much anymore.. i … Continue reading

Screen Resolution Survey

Hey, Anyone, if you could possibly please leave a person’s screen resolution, I am doing a survey and planned to see what commonly screen resolutions had been. Thanks for the actual cooperation! –Kevin Their gonna be possibly 800×600 or 1024×768. I am just the latter Well, i know someone which has an old IBM as well as Screen Resolution of 640×480, he’s became a magnifying display on it. 1024 simply by 768. That rocks! It views just about all websites well as a result of, and a wide range of games must have this being a minimum resolution. by asking a group of " mostly" computer savvy users your pool associated with computer users will probably be a bit skewed. People who seek advise from computers and be aware of things like resolution generally are going to have higher solution screens then lots of people.. personally my video display units are set that will 1600×1200(coupled with extremely sensative mouse configurations, people hate doing my systems). Basicly the best setting achievable can be what My monitor will probably be set to. However in terms of a educated reckon.. I am if that 1024 x 768 will probably be the most favorite … Continue reading

Site Redesign (again ;))

Properly I’ve started on the completely different change for FMD Studios (I’ve got a bit on my hands), but a pal showed me that this design that I’ve truly mocked up looks a bit more like www. ceruleanstudios. com. Does the look look ‘copied’ from their site, because if it does I really is going to change it. If it can be ok I’d appreciate a little critique (yes, I realize the CSS will be explorer-fied, but merely develop the design it’ll be x-browser I assure ) Also would using the cube breaching copyright (it’s a rubik’s iirc) Update: The redesign can be found here – online world. fmdstudios. com/Redesigns/index. html Where could be the redesign It’s an improvement on what you’ve before I imagine. However I do like your outdated design and think it would be good if you do have a nice professional looking banner on them. IT would increase a completley different feel to the site and it would be for the much better. If you cannot developed a new banner then I might consider a full redesign. I don’t even think it’s copied out of that site too much, or it will not look it. But … Continue reading

"safe dimensions" when designing for 1024+ res?

Howdy guys, I understand the accepted standard now, which caters to help 800 x NINE HUNDRED screens, is 740 times 460 But from a variety of polls etc on my site Truly determined that the majority my audience reaches 1024 + So I figure, why not design for your and make real estate. But I didn’t been able to get the " 740 x 460" formula for any 1024 res design. Is there a similar rule of thumb size for creating for 1024 resolution Thanks earlier! Best regards, Jarrett To are the reason for the width with any resolution, subtract about 20 pixels for any scrollbar’s width. Calculating the height is a little more difficult, because that depends upon the browser that visitor is applying, and how many toolbars they’ve. Whether they are choosing large icons and also small icons, contain the " Links" bar showing or when they have downloaded 1 / 3 party toolbar such as the Google toolbar will all make a difference. I’d allow several hundred pixels intended for these toolbars. Nonetheless, it’s not the completed of the world if you are page scrolls vertically, which is expected. POST second spluff’s tip.. However one factor that … Continue reading

Heading banner

Let’s pretend you make a banner in photo shop that’s 900 odd pixels huge. It is obvious so it will only healthy a resolution of 1024 x 768. What I have done in an attempt to make a banner ad fit most resolutions should be to make the screaming in two parts. I put them right two columned stand with cell spacing along with padding set at Zero. The table is defined at 100% to ensure it shows about all resolutions accordingly. I was only wondering if this is the proper way to do it, or is there a healthier way. Ironside, I might definitely not understand the question correctly but if you already split a 900 something pixel huge image into a couple images, it’s width continues to 900 something pixels. A table arranged at 100% thickness will stretch for you to fill a browser window when the elements inside are smaller than the window width. However if it consists of two images in whose total width can be 900px, then the minimum width will be 900px irrespective of whether the browser is usually 1024 or 640. Does that make sense In a nutshell, I’m not responsive to any … Continue reading

Dreamweaver views

Hello I am not sure that forum this needs to be in so here goes: I am employing Dreamweaver 8 over a Mac which has a wide screen the apple company cinema monitor. I utilize the code and design and style split view. I am obtaining it frustrating i always can not find methods to change the divide from horizontal to vertical and Search engines isn’t helping sometimes. I just would like to use up additional of my screen while designing/coding. Thank you for any strategies. I’m undecided… but why would you like two views, at any rate Try living exclusively on code. I spend my own time mostly throughout design but sometimes tweak in code or need to see why something will be wrong. The current layout design+code is really setup for symbol screens. I get such wasted breathing space. Well, design mode generally creates crap code. So it is just a bad idea. In the event you insist on utilizing it, see if you are able to open up a couple of windows of Dreamweaver that may work together. POST haven’t used Dreamweaver throughout forever, though, so I don’t know if that’ll perform. Real editors help you split … Continue reading

New here – and in need!

Hello, I maintain a web site site for any local not-for-profit and you’ll find a problem by using one page we cannot seem to mend. The page will likely be maintained in dreamweaver (not guaranteed if that matters) and is particularly primarily composed making use of one big desk with smaller tables inside that. Until recently, that’s worked really well to hold everything where it ought to be. However, we now are experiencing issues with blocks of text overlapping so every little thing seems squished all the way through, and is unreadable. As the same page has been in use for many years, I’ve experimented with scrapping it along with starting over, reducing may be tables used, but it’s actually not improved. Has anyone else experienced this challenge Is there your fix Oh – page isn’t going to have this display issue for anyone — only with some monitors. I have tried it at 4 different screens (3 pc, one mac) and only find the problem on 1 from the 4. Really interested in a solution. this page may be the money maker to the organization. Thanks a ton! A handful of things: stay faraway from tables. go to DIVs … Continue reading
