Second generation pixel advertising site.

Yeah yeah i’m sure. I said 2 dirty words — pixel and advertising. Trust me, I at ease with them anymore than you! Most people appear intent on taking the concept which had been done and renaming this, or changing your style, or form of adverts. I decided i got going to make an effort to change things and chose to try and do neither of this above. I’ve created the latest concept and genre in this; it’s the earliest ever interactive web page with content providing you with a reason to arrive at. So far it truly is enjoyed better success than i’d expected and is definitely growing at a satisfying pace (! ), Allow me to only put this because of the uniqueness belonging to the idea and the actual enhanced interactivity. I desired to develop the style into a completely new one which incorporated the person to interact with all the site and often be compelled by intense curiosity. www. pixelword. com I honestly desire an appraisal from savvy web developers here – i’ve spent the greater part of two months developing a casual yet sensible page, together with the trimmings, completely by scratch. No pre-purchased screenplays … Continue reading

What is content management?

I have done a great deal of searching and have failed to understand exactly what it’s and how this works I believe… it allows a new user to edit a websites subject matter without changing your layout and type. Is this right Yes. Allows updating of an site/page without the actual re-uploading of code (type) files plus without editing the complete appearance of the positioning. page. When stuck over a term, I use google, I search for http: //www. search engines. co. uk/searchhl=en& lr=& oi=defmore& defl=en& q=define: Content management CMS (Content Direction System) works simply by using a server-side language for example PHP or Perl. All those languages allow a person to log straight into an administrative page and make changes towards site by editing text files plus uploading content. There are lots of turn-key CMS programs for PHP/MySQL… most are free, some demand author credit, several are ad-free, several cost money. Everthing depends on the features and how customizable they are. Once you learn PHP or Perl, you can make your individual simple CMS, for any single user, by using one password. Almost nothing fancy, but using PHP and/or SSI (Server Aspect Includes) to pull-up content material from text … Continue reading

How do you add those temporary floating windows seen in commercial sites?

Many sites now showcase a floating eye-port (splash screen) which can be an advertisement for any limited amout of their time before disappearing. I don’t know what this is known as but I’d like to know how it is done. I’m sure splash screens aren’t a huge hit, but my web page takes a few seconds to load up and I need to to provide a brief window which pops up upon first visit and the quickly disappears after a matter of seconds. Anyone really know what this technique is named and how to do it Thanks, Paul Getting a few solutions, it could possibly be a webpage opened having a set width in addition to height, position or anything else.. Or getting a floating part (http: //www. yahoo. co. uk/searchhl=en& q=floating layers& btnG=Google Search& meta=) Your second item (http: //www. sivamdesign. com/scripts/dwld/lys_pop. html) looks like you could customize it to cease afte x mere seconds (using a setTimeout).

Hi there guys, Now one I’ve truly talked to until now has been capable of answer this for me but hopefully another person here can. i’m using macromedia dreamworks to produce a new site we plan to always be one picture created in macromedia fireworks. My problem is the fact as a background image it doesn’t resize when your screen resolution modifications, as well while i use it in the same way a picture on the web page even while its large enough to fit the whole page there’s still a white line throughout the image. So I had been wondering if everyone here knows the right way to use a single image as their entire web site Thanks in your help, Stargate005 PS: Do not post to say you discourge me from achieving this unless you recognize it cant often be done… I’ve already created the website which took myself a loooong time lol as well as prospect of redoing it doesn’t make me far too happy lol. This is all I could consider: http: //evoluted. net/archives/2004/05/graphical_image. php Perspective the demonstration link. Rather than resizing using this mouse, you could possibly be able to edit the script to resize … Continue reading

Couple of questions

Hi im wanting to design and launch an online site with my friend but have a very few noob inquiries. The site shall be music oriented. Im in search of software or any script where users can subscribe and and create a profile for generally there band, and add all there details, photos, music and maybe videos also. I’d like for there that they are polls and charts also.. Anybody know connected with any scripts including this Also hosting. My concern is, what do that big guys can when there web page is too big for some of the largest hosting packages In particular, myspace. com. I want a host that may grow with me personally, and not fall me for an excess of banwidth use. Most hosts can give you extra space/bandwidth for any small fee. In particular I can obtain another 100 megabites for for ONE (less than $2 USD). Funnily enough I used to be going to advise myspace, Consider www. planetsourcecode. com, world wide web. opensourcecms. com, world wide web. hotscripts. com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/index. html page for scripts.

First post: Charset issue – suspected server problem affecting web pages

About my server (run because of the wonderful folk with Media Temple) that will serves my web page Pixelsurgeon (which is currently undergoing a redesign) the DefaultCharset in the primary httpd. conf is actually ISO-8859-1, but I’m wondering if it needs to be set to UTF-8. For illustration of the condition check out bug #4 here: http: //dropbox. pixelsurgeon. com/bugs/ which is an XHTML page set to UTF-8. There are a few double-byte characters (Japanese, China, Korean) and several accented characters and several Polish. Instead connected with displaying correctly, which jointly do using UTF-8, they manifest as gibberish. HOWEVER – in the event you MANUALLY set the particular Text Encoding to help UTF-8 (for example View > Textual content Encoding > UTF-8 in Firefox) everything snaps just how it should. It’s almost as if the text encoding fact < meta http-equiv=" content-type" content=" text/html; charset=utf-8" /> in the head is becoming ignored. Locally on my machine (Mac OSX which uses a version of UTF-8 for text encoding) everything is fine and also the page works precisely as it should. It just stops working when uploaded towards server. The most apparent thing I can think about is a mismatch somewhere between … Continue reading

How do you let your artistically-challenged customers make site updates?

Hi all, Formerly suffering with tinnitus a web designer for a variety of years now. WHEN I also fully program code the sites WHEN I design, minus any vast perception of CGI, PHP, and so on. I do make use of standard HTML (or XHTML), Thumb, and full CSS. I’m pretty up to date on CSS, requirements and all, but may be fairly " old fashioned" otherwise: After i complete a web page, almost everything is. html files in an FTP server, which are editable by FTP or GoLive or whatever, saved and/or published. There’s a lot of integrated Flash, CGI screenplays, etc, as essential, but while I do design the particular Flash, all additional stuff (CGI calendars, site searches, form digesting, shopping carts, etc) I recently download and customize. I take lots of pride in the form aspect above all, my clients will be always happy, and I do think my sites look good and varied. I’ve played webmaster just the summer sites (doing once a month updates for clients) while others are sort with static, rarely-changing websites. But now I have a few clients who want control over constantly editing their unique sites — uploading images, news improvements, … Continue reading

Alternative scrolling…

We are making a site which is… err different. The theme involves the positioning being built in to a confined area. Therefore it cannot always be scrolled down inside conventional way. Easily allow this to happen the web site will decend by my design. I know i possibly could make a scroll icon in flash nonetheless i don’t totally desire my site to become flash site. Relating to heard of some sort of scrolling div. Would this a full web page Further more we were thinking about your down arrow. When a user hovers in the down arrow this page would scroll affordable. Is this perhaps possible without the use of flash This may be helpful. It is DHTML and you need to click to scroll. In such a example you can go up, down, stop, and back to the top. Should you read through your provided code, its fairly straight forward also , you can easily change the speed and size… dunno if this helps, but all the best .. Powerful Drive DHTML The issue with a scrolling < div> is that is always places both scrollers (vertical AS WELL AS horizontal). Maybe CSS3 may address the horizontal scroll … Continue reading
