A client wants autoplaying video lessons on their internet site. I know this in the form of terrible idea coming from a usability and normal annoyance standpoint but my Google searches just reveal people asking the right way to do it. Does anybody know on the credible source in which describes autoplaying content as being a bad practice
Provided, anything that shoves internet marketing in someone’s deal with is bad process. However, its your clients site. Whenever he wants video’s to help auto-play, so be it. It’s his cash.
Now after you say video’s, what format is it in In Flash you are able to set them to auto-play I believe.
It’ll almost definitely be Flash. Slight chance of Silverlight.
Yes, it’s the client’s money, but my company is really a consulting firm consequently it’s first our job to see them that the concept is wrong as well as why.
I might say from the marketing perspective, this could reflect negatively of the customers site, and also will load pointless data, slowing down the website. Let the user select it if they want to show it or they might not come back due to video that tons.
Furthermore, if a individual has his volume all the way up, and reaches work. Visits the website and BAM your video loads, that user may not go back to that site as they quite simply may close them before seeing what it truly is.
Some thoughts…
I can’t think of any authoritative sites that explain not to exercise. But yeah, I think it would be pretty annoying. Formally, it would be not a problem, as most emeddable(sp) formats let you autoplay.
