Fireworks or Photoshop

Relating to recently purchased Fireworks MX 2004 and i in addition have Photoshop 7 i have no idea of which program to work with to design my site what is the right would you advise I choose Photoshop for designing websites. It’s extra powerful and has additional features, but the downside is that it’s harder to discover ways to use. However, once you discover ways to use it, you’ll find it’s first rate. Ditto in every point. Definitely Photoshop since you’ll it, but for newcomers Photoshop has a hefty price tag so similar to GIMP or comparable cheap or free products will perform. (Just not MICROSOFT Paint ) Li Brad yes, For realz create a savings fund photoshop. U can do so much more with it. Let macromedia remain faithful to the design with regard to websites (flash/dreamweaver) along with leave adobe to the graphics….

A password protected site with photos?

I’m kind of only starting, and I might make some VERY fundamental HTML sites, but what I need to try is really a site with photos that we can allow family to view, whenever they have a password, rather than allow anyone with not a password access. Something akin to how www. webshots. com is effective. I have an account there (webshots) we pay for, but seeing that I have a website name and hosting, I would like to make my own ring personal site Could this be performed with just HTML DOCUMENT No. You’ll need some form of server side program code that checks with regard to login information, when i. e. PHP or ASP. Wired can be somewhat correct; that’s the best way to achieve this. However, but if your family or whoever is looking at your site features a Google toolbar or something similar mounted, make sure you’ve got a robots. txt file of which tells spiders and crawlers to not ever index your products. What you may be able to get away together with (cheaper alternative) is definitely getting your coordinator to assign password permissions to a directory, so you will get that username/password prompt whenever … Continue reading

Using links instead of includes?

Hello there, I’ve been doing web design for a small amount now but possess never really experienced any training or anything inside, so here’s precisely what I’m wondering. If you’re looking for the super-quick version you can skip to the past paragraph. Concerning a site that has many domains, but every one of them is slightly different so it isn’t a referral type thing. Think of it like a car website needed instance, coolcars. com. Following that, I would likewise own the domain names for coolfordcars. com, coolchevycars. com, and many others. Each of these pages could well be slightly different (geared when it comes to that specific car), so it’s not a matter of these all referring for the same place. Thus, now I have 100 or so domains like this. Each of them uses the identical template for diverse content. But things like the footer, the top end image bar, and many others. are all the same. Thus, the index. php file for every domain has your call to Code: include " footer. html" Now, I merely found the downside to this. I had to change the footer, so I had research into my file transfer protocol program, … Continue reading

IE for Linux via Wine — FINALLY EASY!!

So, I realize the majority around here probably don’t utilize Linux, but for those who do, I found essentially the most fantastic little script recently. It’s called IEs SEVERAL Linux, and the idea basically just works and installs IE6, 5. 5, AND 5 VARIOUS. 01, with the Flash 8 tool, and puts some shortcuts on your desktop to that three. Totally kickass, and it’s going to make my diagnostic tests life SOO much easier and therefore run them at my desktop. Right now, for reference, IE leaped in Wine ahead of, but I’ve tried to go through the process over and over again and it merely wouldn’t work. This script is awesome because doing so does it all to suit your needs! Yay!! So, I’m done: -P do you think its worth while getting linux. i’ve got some sort of spare computer and was thinking about getting it in. do you learn a rough cost correctly A rough cost for Linux is somewhere near $0. 00 http: //www. gentoo. org/ http: //www. kubuntu. org/ http: //www. ubuntu. com/ http: //www. opensuse. org/ http: //fedora. redhat. com/ Opt for one Or, do a search for linux distribution’ and you also should … Continue reading

Layers Vs. Layout tables in Dreamweaver

alright, I understand the actual concepts mostly of the right way to use both along with I find Layers less of a challenge to get around with many times. I use layout tables just for sliced up photos or big photographs with smaller rollover parts. When I take a look at other people’s web pages in Dreamweaver WHEN I find them to get comprised usually of layout tables. The key disadvantages of Levels I find is usually they use absolute positioning therefore , the relativity of your page is definitely the same. I like this though it does make your page must be smaller than the actual screen on med-high quality monitor settings. The big downside I find that will layers though is actually always top priorities over javascript side effects like drop down menus. I can’t fit drop down menus above anything in a very layer because the menu always drops behind the coating. I just are unable to make the drop down menu take priority. If whats down below the drop down menu is in layout table that covers that no issue. I just loathe using layout dining tables when I don’t have to. Someone please guide. Are … Continue reading

Some legal questions

I’m a small, 16, actually, attempting to get into some local article marketing to earn some funds on the area. However, I think that might cause a number of legal issues. What I’ve found a long way is that MY SPOUSE AND I can’t own my own ring business, and as the legal entity it will be owned by my personal parents. Are there some other legal issues put on arise I believe contracts, as properly as taxes, can be a problem, but I’m confused. Hey now there! My circumstances are much like yours (with the added problem of requires you’re going to a country who seem to couldn’t care less concerning the internet for nearly anything aside information transfer), and I’ve discovered that the best way to do things now are by family or solidarity ties. Like promote for the school teachers and also your parent’s friends. So far I’ve truly scraped out lots of income via this process, with the added in bonus that they could likely point for your requirements if their friends ask about their website. Your downside is, naturally, you can’t talk to a number of them as casually as you’d like (particularly the older … Continue reading

MAC or PC?

I really like the Mac, its far more effective than a LAPTOP running windows. MY SPOUSE AND I work faster, am more secure and well, life’s the peach. Furthermore I never get virus’s and haven’t must trouble shoot within the 18 month’s using a mac. The only downside is that I must fire up my laptop to see my site in internet explorer. Not ideal but then again its a sacrifice worth making. Thats my opinion anyway. I try a Macbook and it has been a good program in my forays into web development (I seem to have given it upwards recently, after a broad coding sesh become a waste connected with time). For those who have the cash and you aren’t into PC video gaming, I’d recommend just one. OK well that’s sort of what I seemed to be think I must do is jump returning to window IE and see the way the site looks or use the BootCamp feature in the new Leopard COMPUTER ITSELF and load Windows which would be great. But am i going to still code identical in Mac as I’d in Windows useing CODE, XHTML and CSS Thanks to the input also… Largely … Continue reading

sIFR – FINALLY All Fonts Available on the Web!

Check this out: http: //www. mikeindustries. com/blog/sifr/ All these guys are nothing at all short of great. They created the Flash + Javascript component that takes virtually any HTML document and replaces < h*> elements that has a Flash object with the same size comprising rich, beautiful text. What what this means is to us, as designers, is that individuals can design websites that use virtually any FONTS WE NEED, without having to produce images for all of them. Better yet, these pages will be 100% accessible, with sIFR fonts displayed to virtually all web users, plus the remainder simply seeing the default CSS-specified net fonts. HOW COOL IS THIS!! I’m gonna make the first sIFR page tomorrow!: -D All right, I just tested out it out…. really freakin sweet!!! Usually there are some little annoyances distinct to Flash (e. h. can’t copy that sIFR’ed chunks regarding text with the rest of the body), but that’s acceptable. I’ve seen this just before, a couple of prohibited… There was something about it that has been not good (but MY SPOUSE AND I can’t remember). I’ll should re-visit it again. I had never been aware of anything like that, but obviously they … Continue reading
