Novice Question: How to create page with dynamic elements, ie: menu’s & pagelets..

Heya guys, I just now found your forum and I do think it’s great! I’ve learned a whole lot already. I have recently been a webmaster for numerous years, very novice although – and will have been using just HTML plus much more recently CSS. I’ve had some encounter with frames/iframes, tables all that will stuff and am prepared to learn more… I maintain one or two websites currently (all amateurish) and I have been asked to create another one… with this new one I’d like to take an alternative approach. One of the pet peeves with each one of my current websites is when we have a menu change or perhaps something similar (ie: add a different image to the header, new link inside footer, navigation pub, etc… ) I must manually update each and every page… Most websites I see now take over dynamic elements (I think these are similar to pagelets) – (for example, http: //news. bbc. corp. uk/) I’m sure they don’t specify their links in every page and also the little box that says most in-demand stories…, but somehow call up these links on the page.. this is what I would like to learn how … Continue reading →

Setting up my own website. Help needed.

I am looking in to setting up my own company selling garments that we have designed as well as made myself. I currently promote my garments for a casual basis to family and by negative feedback. I would now plan to retail online to be able to turn my casual selling inside more of a fully fledged small business. To achieve this I’d like to design a professional website to promote the clothing on the web. ONE PARTICULAR. Site Navigation and where am I now?

So, I’d like to help hear from individuals who are far much more experienced than me in web site design. The site I will be working on may be a hobby. The entertaining, geeky role playing community sorts of hobby. I include an over all idea, as to how I would like things to appear, but I really know what I want, is actually beyond my encounter. So, any suggestions as well as helpful insights have become much appreciated. Somewhere along the line, I got the idea in my head that we wanted to employ Joomla, and implement it for overall navigation system for that site. I’m sure CSS could do the identical job. Since that is the hobby, a play-by-post RPG town, I decided around the overall color style, being similar inside color to outdated vellum. 20 a matter of minutes in gimp, and I could have a quality faux-vellum image to tile inside the background. The main feature from the site would be your forum itself, in addition to a wiki.
