Using Templates in Dreamweaver

Can certainly someone briefly explain the fundamental steps when making use of templates… i’ll show u the ways i used this failed and ough correct me… these we go

JUST ONE. Made index. html
TWO. Made index. dwt (template)
3. Duplicate and rename catalog. html to news flash. html
5. repeat for most pages

YOUR FIVE. Then i adjusted the template but the remaining portion of the pages didn’t redesign.

Any person help me out and about

All regions of the template by default are generally non editable. In otherwords the aspects of the pages dependant on that template can’t be changed, but will change that the template changes. So unless your whole document is placed as an editable region proceed to the next sentence.. otherwise make all those changes first.

After this you create a new document from a template. In DWMX you go to new insurance coverage press the structure tab and select your website, if any templates exist for this site they’ll be displayed here. Select the template you should base the new document from and there you..

Now if you need to make changes to a non editable region for every page based about that template you just have to alter the template. This explination is really a bit loose so if you would like more indepth help well then , i’ll know.

k i followed the 1st step… now let us confirm this

next time i want to produce a new page determined by the template, my partner and i open the structure make the variations and save while document. html

then next time i change the web theme the html site will update

or have managed to get it wrong Certainly not that u stated it badly i’m simply a nub: cheeky:

likewise… u say

" Now if you need to make changes to a non editable region for each page based on
that template you simply have to change the actual template"

i didn’t think it had been possible to transform a non-editable region in the template once it has been assigned the residence " non-editable"

Yet another thing… sometimes i obtain a message saying

Theme file " D: \Path\index. dwt" is usually nested inside themselves (directly or indirectly)

how can i prevent this message

sorry about many of the posts here is the first time i’ve done this: cross-eyed:

k i researched the matter with the nested structure i mentioned in the last post

seems that we applied the web template to itself and yes it was stuck in an odd never-ending loop…

i resolved the matter by detaching your template

Well whadda ya realize… a little playing around can do the world of good.

MY PARTNER AND I figured the structure business out today, and it issue after a theme is saved it becomes editable and also the web pages attached with the template become non-editable

everythings fine as area now… iFrames: devious:
