Web Design Pricing?

Yo, so heres your deal…

I work at a sports memorabilia shop, and on the side do a little website development. My coworker features a friend that owns a rims firm and needs a site. This guy can be well off, 20 and already creating 150-200k+ just selling these rims.

Thus… what he needs is:
1)A graphically desirable website with web pages for news, phone info, advertising, jobs, etc
2)60+ quite a few pages for rims, I’d probably use the script so i will add/edit/delete tehm easily
3) a function where you possibly can type in make/model/year within your car and find available rims
(not sure how ill do this yet, probably many forms/cgi-scripts.

So I’ll have some good looking to good graphics, professional however atractive, with SSI, and several cgi-scripts which would spend some time to adjust exactly into the sites needs.

What would have been a good price quote for like this I am confident I could do an great job, so quality probably will not an issue.

Likewise, I’m not positive if he’d need me to hold anything, but what would have been a good price quotation on maintaining features or other things

Thanks guys,
-ty

charge what u think your energy is worth — you don’t have standard pricing for website development

Im not any pro, but this really is some stuff we have done about 5 months ago:
go4speed. com
yongin. us

I’m confident Allow me to make it look good, as those a pair of right there aren’t the best.

The lowest i’d go is 250, but it seems like you guys tend to be charging like 500+ with regard to even teh a lot of simplistic sites

MY PARTNER AND I haven’t had any kind of ‘huge jobs’ before, but what is definitely standard

is just those sites are down for the count — from what u outlined 65+ pages.. 400. 00 would be cutting your mid-section too short, you could possibly as well do totally free… 65+ pages you could end up looking at 1500. 00 min seem like he might possibly need some database backend to keep the information for any rims..

you may come off better by sub-contracting many of the work out into a designer/development —

Yahh, i got planning on with a script to type in a pic on the rim, and a field to enter any info about the rim… it wouldn’t be just like creating and uploading 1 page for each and every rim, but it would still spend some time…

yeh i’d sit back and give thought to your time and complexity in the job

MY PARTNER AND I agree w/ Gemini. Looks like $1500 won’t break his bank-account, and this is really a huge advertising application for him. This is the large project, so make sure you’re fairly compensated for this.

I have some odd means of comming up by using pricing, and they generally work very well.. here is the best way i would tackel your own delemia.. ask him just what price he will charge for a costly set of rims and be sure he understands you will charge him much.. that could be upwards of 5, 000+ I are aware that sounds like a reasonable amount right now but if you put it in context they may be more then reasonable.. With this site he can sell more of the expensive rims and make more often than not over what he / she spent. If you are having problems justifing the purchase price because you think its excessive, I would put together a return of invenstment report regarding him and show him some amounts.

Enables do some math, lets say he makes 150, 000-200, 000 1 year (profit) right these days selling his rims, and that will increase by 10% a year as a result of site (that is a pretty LOW estimate) that might mean a 15, 000-20, 000 enhance (based on 10% regarding 150, 000-200, 000) so this individual could EASILY pocket an additional 10-20 grand the very first year alone and each and every year it would increase thanks to sales generted from the site, (In reality it will probably be much higher) an affiliate site is very effective concerning advertising, and wanting professional. If customers buy personally but went on the site first to determine information that sale made is generated in the site.

An additional way to justify the worth… think of your website as a for no reason sleeping super sales man, he knows every one of the product information, he can explain anything you should know about the corporation, he never complains, is ontime, and can be avaliable(except during minimal web outages). The amount would you have the funds for such a dedicated employee Far more then 5 great i’d imagine… hell that might barely be the months salery for a great person, if actually!!!

The value you are looking for now is absolutely nothing more then the retail price he would charge for a single ‘cheap’ edge..

For no reason undersell your expert services, If you know you’ll be able to produce a good quality site let the value reflect that.. Many companies have quite a bit of money they are going to spend, and if you present a reson why they should spend it on you they will more then pleased to grab that pencil and sign of which check. Its not really about being money grubbing. Its about being compensated for precious work. Keep as their intended purpose, you are not necessarily cleaning his carpeting, you are giving him a valuable selling tool that he can use to create a huge profit. That really needs to be worth something to him. And the cost needs to magnify that.
