Site Navigation

I believe this question fits best in this forum. I’m in the deal of redesigning this site and I’m stumped with the navigation. I would like it in the form of hierarchy with pieces and sub portions.

This can be kind of how I want the idea:

Code:
+--------------------------------------------------------------------+
WEBSITE NAME
+--------------------------------------------------------------------+
Section color=redSECTION/color Section Portion
+--------------------------------------------------------------------+
Home -> Section -> Sub Area
+---------------+ +-------------------------------------------------+
Sub Sec Section Content material
+---------------+
color=redSUB SEC/color Several content here
+---------------+ +-------------------------------------------------+
SubSub Securities and exchange commission's
+---------------+ +-------------------------------------------------+
Website Section Content
+---------------+
Website Some content the following
+---------------+ +-------------------------------------------------+
Sub Sec
+---------------+
Sub Sec
+---------------+

+---------------+
Still left content

Some content material
here
+---------------+
  • Top level sections will forever appear at the superior of the page in the primary navigation bar.
  • Any non leading level section will present a parent portion.
  • A section will present 0 or far more main content things.

Whether a section has 0 content material items, the content items in the parent section will be dispalyed.

  • A section can offer other sub portions.
  • A section can offer links which is going to be displayed on the left.
  • A section can offer 0 or far more left content things.

The concern here, is am I causeing this to be too complex and it is possible to best way to help model this inside a database

Many thanks

The question of complexity is actually dependant on chance. If this shall be a personal as well as business site, then you’ll want to keep your style and design simple and fresh. I wouln’t go deeper than (for example) " Dwelling > Section > Subsection" or maybe you risk frustrating your audience. In the event however, we’re dealing which includes a news or info site with lots and lots of information, then you’ll be able to feel free to help dive as deep as you need to.

Right now, as to how you should model the actual database to echo this, again, everthing depends on your content…
