Still design with Internet Explorer 5/5.5 in mind?

I’ve noticed plenty of my sites look like pretty garbled upward when it’s seen using ie5/5. 5… Anything, else and they also all work fine. According to w3schools merely about 4% with poeple still employ ie5. http: //www. w3schools. com/browsers/browsers_stats. asp So… Do you design/code with ie5 as their intended purpose, or is the item a lost cause Many thanks! Nope. IE6 is actually my baseline, in the event I’m targetting IE (I usually am, though ) POST ignore it. IE WDF cell phone browser breakdown for August 2006 (although not necessarily truly representative of your general population because designers will use alternative surfers and AWstats grossly underrepresents many stats, including hits): wow, that copied terribly. Summary: IE 6TH, 40. 8%, IE SEVERAL, 3. 8%, all others less than 1%. Overall: IE 1 OUT OF 3. 2% and Firefox 38. 2% (! ). Additional notables: Safari A COUPLE OF. 4% and Opera A SINGLE. 1%. Netscape 4 less than 0. 01%… report. Konqueror only slightly more than NS4. I actually much like the Opera rendering motor… I just loathe the browser which surrounds it. In the months and many years, IE and Firefox were getting closer and also closer for … Continue reading

New site

Hi, I’m working away at an update involving my school house website and required your opinions at how it appearance, the house coloration is pink — hence the shapes and colours used! I also want some advice on which fonts would look great, thanks beforehand, Solidgold look it over Im not a huge fan. I’d personally possibly go with a solid grey background as opposed to more stripes. As well, there is a black circle in the middle of the text spot in Firefox. Caring I just seen, is that this page scrolls if it doesnt really need to, and there is definitely no border for the top of the underside pink section, which i think would make the website look a tiny better, since the good news is border on the most notable pink section. It does not align properly with Firefox, and there may be horizontal and directory scrolling for no reason. As well, having stripes likely one direction with the top and bottom on the page, and stripes opting another at the center, is a bit of a distraction. Make this solid. It’s like seeing a magic eye on a carousel. You seriously should find out CSS … Continue reading

Nested Divs

I’m currently working on a webpage for my you job information. On the reception page I’m creating a problem with the < div> using boarders strectching to be able to surround several < div> s inside. The only problem with this is when I float your nested divs to get the images covered up the national boundaries ignores them http: //www. phoenixbehavioralhealth. com/phones. html code. Is there ways to have the border automatically adjust on the size of the particular elements inside although they are floating Please ignore all the broken links to images Patient asking a coworker of mine to have me some images but to no avail adjusted yet. Any help with this issue would often be appreciated! I’m considering it with FireFox and IE. Which often browser does the item appear correctly in IE has your name above the photos as well as the border appears to go around both brand and photo. Whenever you get photos around there, things may possibly look different having FireFox. Placed some blank. jpgs in there for now. Well even in IE in the event the page width is adjusted to become smaller the previous picture floats outside the border. I … Continue reading

Text and graphics overlapping when displayed in firefox/linux

Hello all, My cousin has designed the woman’s website using Dreamweaver FIVE. 0. Looks equally she wants the idea to when considered with Firefox on the inside Windows but any time viewed in Firefox using Linux the text desires to overlap the graphics below it. See link below for any with Linux. http: //www. smokesignalsfarm. com/Mares. html I guess my issue is, how should your lady go about ensuring that her website turns up well in different os’s and windows In FF in PC I have text overlapping images… is that just what exactly you mean (see attachement) Check out attachment 3456 Firstly DW4… that’s similar to… REALLY old!: ermm: DW reaches 8 now. Plus frankly, if you’re about to use DW WYSIWYG to build your page, I suggest the latest version since the idea creates page far better than older reproductions. I still doesn’t produce the top code on this planet but it’s far better than before. : let down: We appear to possess more problems as compared with we thought. Yours has overlaps about the horizontal plain along with the page seems to jog off the perfect hand side, unlike mine, when observing in linux, has overlaps about … Continue reading

It works fine with Internet Explorer 6, but when it reaches the others (Firefox and Netscape) this doesn’t happen seem to respond at the same time. It will are inclined to freeze in place in Firefox and some of the banners (which usually are Flash Banners) won’t show whatsoever. I used The front Page 2003 to design it. Another person please help. Try getting your sites coding valid. http: //validator. w3. org Just put your site in and function with the code. thanks for all you help! How does someone know what doctype to utilize You should choose depending on how i code… POST remember this post on http: //www. alistapart. com with regards to doctypes. http: //www. alistapart. com/articles/doctype/ some of the first problems you will have in this scenario: code is not valid. (firefox is a great example of your need for valid, or at the least well-formed code) try utilizing a js script to produce flash load very last: adobe flash last load script: HTML: < script type=" text/javascript" > perform loadflash() document. getElementById(‘SOME_DIV’). innerHTML = " THE_FLASH_OBJECT_CODE" < /script> in one’s body tag include: HTML: < body onload=" loadflash()" > < /body> .

So, I’m trying to switch to Opera

I used to use Firefox, but I can’t stand it anymore since: While and also a decent employment of following W3C requirements, it still fails the Acid2 test. It leakages memory like nuts. It crashes a good deal. Opera, on the other hand: Passes the Acid2 test. Is using less memory by using several tabs available than Firefox may just when recently launched. Hasn’t crashed (yet). It really does have some annoyances, like having any much different UI simply by default than Firefox or perhaps IE. I’ve custom-made it heavily in order to my liking, including replacing this default skin which has a skin that looks very much like native Windows EXP (for example, the tabs look like, you know, tabs at this point, not taskbar buttons). I also can’t stand the error console whatsoever compared to Firefox. Lastly, accesskeys are broken or not even set up by means of default. There’s no keyboard accelerator for any password manager dialog (" do you want to remember this specific password"… it’s " r" inside Firefox and " y" inside IE). But I still gives all that upward for following W3C standards without crashing and employing all 1 GB of my RAM … Continue reading

Need help with layout problem

We’ve a layout problem that i can’t figure away. I had our company website all complete and it looked great, or even so I believed. I designed this using Frontpage THE YEAR 2003 then cleaned in place the bloated Code Frontpage tends to be able to leave behind. I checked the site on IE7, Firefox, plus Netscape. It considered fine, functioned as Needed and I thought We were done. The problem- Thought about a visitor email me which includes a complaint about the website as a jumbled up, unreadable play. Pictures were overlapping wording, none of the actual < div> were where they were said to be or anything. It looked great on all three browsers i checked. I could not see a one problem. I examined it on my own 19" monitor, some sort of 17" monitor during both 800×600 res and on 1024×768, Still no problems I could truthfully see. I discovered the email was bogus. I checked that on another pc that used AOL plus it was a wreck! I saw anything the emailer explained! My first thought was ?t had been strictly an AOL issue but then I noticed the email came from verizon. net, meaning … Continue reading

Files lost but saved by … Firefox lol

I was there editing my own page and had not saved in a while when to the horror, Dreamweaver freezes or over comes the " The offer has performed a strong illegal operation problem box" and it quit taking an hour’s work with it. I was generally there thinking Oh no when i looked and noticed I still had the page open up previewed in Firefox thus I selected view source and message, pasted it to Dreamweaver that we had just opened in club penguin and saved related to 50 minutes on the work so I only lost TEN minutes of do the job. phew.. Nice catch, man. But now With regards to you’ve learned saving early and help you save often. And produce backups. In fact, the best piece of advice I’ve ever gotten in this problem is the one in The Down-to-earth Programmer: always use revision control.
