Novice Question: How to create page with dynamic elements, ie: menu’s & pagelets..

Heya guys, I just now found your forum and I do think it’s great! I’ve learned a whole lot already. I have recently been a webmaster for numerous years, very novice although – and will have been using just HTML plus much more recently CSS. I’ve had some encounter with frames/iframes, tables all that will stuff and am prepared to learn more… I maintain one or two websites currently (all amateurish) and I have been asked to create another one… with this new one I’d like to take an alternative approach. One of the pet peeves with each one of my current websites is when we have a menu change or perhaps something similar (ie: add a different image to the header, new link inside footer, navigation pub, etc… ) I must manually update each and every page… Most websites I see now take over dynamic elements (I think these are similar to pagelets) – (for example, http: //news. bbc. corp. uk/) I’m sure they don’t specify their links in every page and also the little box that says most in-demand stories…, but somehow call up these links on the page.. this is what I would like to learn how … Continue reading →

Jumping right in here- not sure if you have a thread for this or not but I will ask about this bc My business is limited on time to look the site— my apologies beforehand. My business is working on building a site for a buddy (Novice).. I am handling dreamweaver (I possess the full CS4 Control Collection) What I’m trying to do is produce a counter like usually the one at www. drudgereport. com (bottom right) that lists yesteryear 24hrs, month, and visits per year. I also really need to create a search function for your site, and some sort of suggestion box/tips or perhaps a contact text message area. I am TOTALLY newbie to how to get this done. I am less than the impression this would require a CGI application working in the background but I have no idea even what which means. Our company has been tasked with building a website for a consulting firm. Most of the site is quite basic, but the agency has sections they would like youngster should be update themselves that will pertain to specific clients of theirs. site translation using php databases and cookies?

I’m setting up a website for a restaurant in spanish in addition to english and ‘m having it translated skilled professionals. I just don’t realize how to set up the website so when clicking using a spanish or english icon it can revert to the spanish or the particular english version. Is there a way for a straight bracket ?

Okay, I am unsure of the this icon is termed " " but it looks like a new half square group or something. Can there be any way We can put a paragrah among big ones of those Like a bordered table but instead of it all staying bordered, only the sides. If I design a graphic in that case obviously the word can’t fit snuggly inside bracket corner edges since the invisible part in the graphic is generally there. I know this may not be making much good sense. So simple speaking, a bordered table that is definitely only half bordered, considering the middle lines currently being invisible.
