IE5 Help

I’m currently developing an online site for a Student Accommodation. It’s perfect upon all browsers aside from IE5 and it has to be perfect on IE5 for your customer cos jane is using the IE5 Web browser. I have seemed up on tips and hints and as far as I’m sure already and have been confirmed from exploring around, Stylesheets aren’t compatible with IE5 so what on earth should I will i am completely lost, please help me personally. K-Webs It’s hard enough addressing IE6-IE7, and IE5 is actually worse. Merely were in your current shoes, I would simply ensure it is XHTML/CSS validated, designed for FireFox and adjustments created for IE6 and preceding. I would not really care that she is a customer in this article. She should not use IE5, and in the event you go through the many hours to make that right, just with regard to her, who’s to express her computer isn’t going to die and she then gets a different computer at IE7 or IE8 There comes your point where a web designer/developer has to be in charge of particular things, and this is one of these people… even at this point of shedding … Continue reading

How big is to big for a back ground image?

I used to be just wondering exactly what everyone though about sizes for foundation images. What is a good size for them and what exactly is to big Relating to all ways heard that as long at they are usually under a meg then they work effectively but I realize that a meg can be to big. With regard to download size… under 40k if it is going to be an integral part of your design (e. gary the gadget guy. a frame or border on your site). But in the event that it’s just the ambient background image, I would visit as big since 200k. A megabites is ridiculous. Aim to have the most basic background image likely.. if its up and down repeated eg get 800×1, if its orizontail tumble 1×100 and also try to use transarency and also table colors in making them smaller ANY background image should not even be near 1Mb. The background picture should be no more than you can ensure it is. You can start using a gif format together with indexed colors that will control the size from the image. PNGs tend to do better when compared with GIFs for great BG … Continue reading

Sending email from form w/out php or asp support?

Perhaps there is anyway I can certainly send an email from a flash form WE made in swishmax 3 OR MORE without php and also asp support coming from my host This host implied I can still do the idea with smtp but I need ideas of how or what they’re just talking about. Does anybody understand how to do this Thanks a lot. To use SMTP you will still need some application running within the server that will connect with your SMTP node. If they don’t permit you to program an SMTP purchaser, maybe they include an SMTP cgi script that you can post to They definitely have to give you extra infromation, though, or I say you discover a new coordinator. As smoseley possesses said, you really need some kind of server side scripting runnig within the background to begin. I think every hosting worth the salt in this era should have that will covered. ________________________________________ Joomla Webside You can actually ask someone else (with a different webhost) to enable you remote access to their site… send the idea remotely through these individuals. You would be dependant upon them pertaining to reliability, security, and so forth. Not to … Continue reading

just starting off

Hello there, this is my new posting to this forum, but I’m hoping Allow me to get some clarification about some things. I have been doing website design as a hobby for some years, but it’s getting more permanent and I’m struggling with what to ask for. someone suggested when designing a web site, charge $50/page for strict html plus more for php or perhaps javascript. However, when you look at designquote. com it’s quite a lot more. I really can use some guidance. thanks, Mindy This is really a hard question. They’ll give you different answers by everyone here. I don’t charge with the page. I try to acquire a feel as to simply how much time and expertise is required. For example, a client are able a WordPress web site. That’s a lot different over a site with a new shopping cart method. Both require PHP/MySQL expertise, but how the customer wants it for being customized makes all of the difference. Whatever form of site you can, the client needs to discover how to " work it" on their own. This is exactly why I don’t carry out " static" internet websites… Let your purchaser handle the subject … Continue reading

Does this look ok in IE?

Use a client saying her site looks almost all misaligned in IE 7/8/9. Then again I see that fine on almost all planes (tried IE 7/9, Firefox 4/5, Chrome 13). Had added people check them out, they all article it looks fine overall their browsers. So we’re possibly not entirely sure why the customer is seeing that incorrectly. The client notion maybe it had something related to his large display resolution (1440 a 900) but I’ve tried various resolutions and it continues to appear fine. I dont think that would lead on the way that he’s seeing it erroneous anyway. Was hoping some people here could possibly say if this looks ok as well as not in IE, so you can easliy get a bigger picture of the best way often/which browsers it isn’t really displaying correctly. Website link: http: //www. blackburnstest. com/bwf_test/ This is the screenshot the purchaser took of how he could be seeing it: http: //i. imgur. com/JtgC4. jpg Definitely doesnt look resolution-related. Regardless, can I try to get some yay as well as nays here if looks good for you in the prevalent browsers and which often versions Thanks much ahead of time! It’s IE7 (IE9 … Continue reading

Form Design: Best Place to Put Extra Info

I am working on brand-new styles for my own employer’s site employing CSS and JQuery, and I ran into a fascinating quandary, which I was hoping I might get some advice pertaining to. I want and therefore add hints for you to any form elements that could need them, and have them only look when they’re needed (using any hover mechanism). I want to to ask, what in your opinion is the simplest way to do that (both handling your indication that there’s more info, and having this show up) On the list of books I has been reading suggests accomplishing this by adding a good info icon into the label, but my employer wants the labels to show up floating around the left side of the form elements, and I located that adding an icon there makes the labels look really uneven (because the star sits between the label along with the form). I truly do know that I’m likely to indicate errors using a popup on the ideal side of the form element (that underlines when the element concentrates or the error icon which will appear on the ideal side of the field is hovered), so I’m undecided … Continue reading

He basically said the design was s**t (he actually said that). He said he’s experience selling websites knowning that blue and green how I’ve used them should not go together. And went onto say various other stuff that he obviously had very little idea about. In that case he said " This site is much much better: http: //www. landscapia. net/index. htm". Today, I’ve worked with clients many times. I understand our own ideas conflict and I’m employed to tearing up models and starting unique. But, I’ve never have a client this thinks he knows above me, and then functions verbally abusive language to place my work along. My organization is creating the internet site for our soccer club. We purchased the location from networksolutions (hemetjuventusfc. com plus. org). I used templates from NS and need to go beyond that which is available with his or her tool set. What is the S/W recommended to build the site off of line and update it can anyone use cupofcoffee Find you a great text editor, like Notepad++ and cozy as much as some http: //www. w3schools. com Relating to cupofcoffee, which Google gave me a lot of hell searching with regard to, because it wished to separate the words and phrases, I haven’t used it, because I don’t utilize templates. As considerably as templates choose, though it will not seem that poor. Tough to build offline unless you might have your own device. You will utilize PHP and MySQL for just a database. You’ll find loads of free HTML templates available… As for coffeecup, if I keep in mind right it’s not only a bad tool. Yes you may develop offline, but to actually test it, you’ll to setup a web site server, most windows computers can run a web site server, but you will require your install disk … Continue reading
