site size

Another newb question, I am building my internet site, again on dreamweaver, and I am using photoshop to produce gifs for this nav bar/graphics/etc. We have just completed the nav bar, and already i am at 23 e for site size. What is a suitable site size these days Is there any gif compression to be used Maximum size for all those files together that make up a page shouldn’t ideally be more than 60KB, and definately only 100KB. You can use GIF compression I think, but the best thing to do is to assure your graphics are reused throughout your web blog. If you’re reusing the nav through the site, I believe 23K is ok, but you would be wise to try to compress graphics whenever you can without loosing excessive quality. Definitely, Many thanks guys, big help. Something must are actually hiding in this file, because I cleansed it up plus the nav bar appeared to be only 4 k in the end. My main page is still gonna be all around 60k; I have a variety of rollover images in a large graphic club. Another question… is a splash page advisable I’ve heard each ways… How do … Continue reading

tables

hi i was wondering learning to make a good table. I have undoubtedly made one in my site so we can seperate the nav pub from the remaining portion of the page but whenever i try to type next into the nav bar the item gos to the center of the table. so i can have only text and stuff down the middle of my page. does anyone discover how to fix this p. s i dont would like a frame cuase i dont such as the way they glimpse. The centering as part of your table is handled by the < td> licence plate. The simplistic example shows your content shoved in the upper left hand corner with the cell. < family table cellspacing=’3′ cellpadding=’3′> < tr> < td align=’left’ valign=’top’> ones content < /td> < /tr> < /table> o regards very much keep your using tables for layout apply XHML+CSS instead.

Erm…A ltiile help here?

A certain amount of a continuation in the navigation thread I started…… Well basically can easily anyone tell my home how I change where the bar appears And the way to stop it happening forever It really is here: http: //www. crabhand. company. uk/help. htm I basically want to buy to either be in the table or ensure it is centered and similar width of the table….. Many thanks!!!: nervous: Hmm, I don’t believe I quite comply with… But first thing that really is not clean code. Because you said you don’t know anything about coding Consider the good dismiss that however. So far as I can tell, the nav bar is precisely the same width as the actual table now (600 one thing px), and it appears to be centered too. One thing you might do is consider this block of code: body border: px; foam: 9em; text-align: left place: absolute To begin with, the margin is not defined. So either rise out completely, set it to 0px, or set it into a other number for a liking. Second, I believe you can take out the ‘text-align: still left; ‘ since all your content will be in the table. … Continue reading

Web Layout Graphics

Good day my fellow web development buddies! I got wanting some suggestions/opinions/comments to the following web format. Me and a couple of friends are aquiring a contest to see who are able to make the ideal web layout. I wanted to just get it critiqued previous to I went any kind of farther into this. I know, many of the writing and text don’t make because. I also simply put web. com just by a sample text, this is not going becoming a website and I’d no means involving copying the already domain name web. com. It’s just an idea URL. Thanks friends for that replies!! –Kevin It’s not too bad.. I merely think you used an excessive amount of grey. Try combining more blue. I will be not a huge fan with the nav. bar and also register for postal mail boxes. Either they have to be bigger or even different. The side bg horizontal lines are not my favorite, you might like to try a diagonal range bg. Thats just my personal preferences though. At any rate, if you bring more blue and also change the collections direction, I think it would look good. I never really like … Continue reading

Adding side-bars

hi there I’m new to web design, but so far I’ve managed to lay out a website that looks fine, but it lacks any nav-bar. as connected with now I’m applying links divided by means of vertical lines, but it surely looks tacky to me. every tips You might even give us a link so we know what you’re talking related to. I’m not sure if it will be allowed to connection directly, if there are the word " fag" in the container. I use it pretty gratuitously, seeing as it really is my alias in a very game. edit: my alias contains the saying " fag" I see you’re using CuteNews (a PHP script) to render your internet site. It’s within which PHP script that you should create your sidebars as well as other navigation. Too bad that CuteNews is making use of tables and such rather then CSS… that would can certainly make things easier in your case. But that’s exactly what you are applying, so you’ll should hack into your page(s) that CuteNews creates to stick in some other HTML scripting. I have never used CuteNews… perhaps they’ve got a tutorial on which you is able to … Continue reading

Gradient rollover intermediate

Heya folks. I’m seeking to create a nav bar influenced by gradients. Now, the gradient goes one of many ways usually, and the other on hover. But I’m not sure how to handle it to indicate the particular current’ section. Any ideas If you’d like imagery, I can attempt to put some in place. Maybe select a darker version belonging to the regular gradient As well as, change the font colour How about just a plain color… no gradient I’ve noticed this done before (don’t ask me where… I don’t remember) along with I remember thinking so it was a nice contrasting tool for doing it. karinne — I’ve tried that, but I don’t like it much. Maybe I’m not using the right color, though — I used one of the two extremes. I’ll see what goes on if I use maybe one of the colors from in the gradient. I’ll try that darker version on the gradient, -chris-, that was not a bad thought. Changing the font colour isn’t enough, however, in my impression. How about like this, or this, using a color not while in the gradient, but somewhere else in the web site Ok, can this look: … Continue reading

new layout YAY

fresh layout for my own site. whaddya think http: //jessism. company. nr btw, still some stuff that they are tweaked(content, nav club, etc) but format wise, what needs to be improved LOL! I prefer the header graphic!!!: -D thank you I as if it, I think this nav bar is great, I wouldn’t change it only were you. Nevertheless , you should change your markup to XHTML. That’s to create it standards compliant. Head over to http: //www. w3schools. com/xhtml to get more. I’ve never been an enormous fan of the location where the header image gets attached to 400px or additional above the times. That being explained, your graphic operate is both unique and interesting plus your color scheme operates. Well done. yes, love the graphic, good work! Great graphic in the top. The relaxation of site is actually OK but does not really rock my personal boat. The website load time looked like it excessive at about 25 seconds. It didn’t seem to take long correctly to load on my pc. Looks good. If I was gonna change anything (if during all) I may perhaps make the font a big bigger or bolder (but not sure on this, … Continue reading

Confused about creating so many CSS rules for this…

http: //www. layersmagazine. com/dreamweaver-navigation-bar-css. html To ensure the tutorial at the link above describes making a nav bar. We are curious, why is there a need to produce 3 rules to complete this (#navbar ul, #navbar ul li, & #navbar ul li a) when it looks like it could be done available as one, maybe 2 May someone help my family, or point me to your website that explains what that is definitely all for MY SPOUSE AND I guess I’m as well then asking, how do i know when We would like to create your css rule for something Can the idea be explained easily Those are various parts of a section… < div id=" navbar" > < ul> < li> < the href=… > < /a> < /li> < ul> < /div> Consider it as " nested tags". It is possible to specifically do diverse things within each one tag, but for you to let the browser know what kind you’re talking about, you need to work your way with from the " div id" tag to the one you’re impacting on. Should you only specify this particular far, #navbar ul everything within those can take-on his guidelines.
