Suggestions for a coder who wants to delve into web ‘design’

Hello everyone, That is my first posting here, so hello! I am here for some suggestions. We’ve a BS in CS and have taken a category or two on web site design but it’s been with a year and We have forgotten most of what I had learned. I use a programming background in addition to am currently working like a web applications developer; I’ve picked way up C#/. NET/SQL plus am loving the item. Every day I am learning cool things and I’d prefer to continue that will explore data-driven web sites. So what the heck am MY SPOUSE AND I here for I have always been weak using the ‘design’/visual/creative elements regarding website creation and wish to know where to start. I am knowledgeable about CSS (don’t recall much, but I know I can get familiar with it again). We’ve used GoLive (code/designer view split), and Adobe ImageReady. I’ve recently gained involvement in learning Flash in the process. I don’t expect to find out complicated animations, but simple ones which could really enhance the planning and appeal on the site. need some help re: functionality

Hi, I posted this on one of many other boards yesteryear but thought It’s safe to re-post now We have calmed down a little. I have a new relatively new job (NOT in the container, web design, communications or anything at all remotely relevant including that) and the boss has asked me to help with the webpage. We have an Access 07 databases of sites (grid recommendations, disabled toilets etc) and need to create an active image map and form that income the requested facts. I know it needs to be pretty straightforward, I just don’t learn how to do it. I have experience as the designer but coming from, oh, about 6-8 typical, and that ended up being just building somewhat functionless sites intended for information only. I have a new vague idea that MySQL arrive into this certain times, but when plus how is further than me. The present site was written by another, maintained by another and has virtually nothing related to me. It seemed to be written in dreamweaver, hosted with BT… very dreary, ordinary SME products. Howdy everyone, I’m new to web page design so this question might seem silly, but I need a little bit of help here. Just what content management system, a simple definition I recognize that WordPress, Joomla for example. are considered so , because, let’s take WP as one example, it is easy for that author of as well as to make changes and add entries, etc. So here’s my concern: what if you design a web site in dreamweaver for any client, who let’s say wishes to occassionally have the ability to add ‘news’ bits onto the house page along together with an image or maybe two I think one solution is to use WP and also to give the web-site a non-blog feel/design. Hi, I’m not positive where do you start on implementing a thing on my web page. I am a new s/w developer and may write pretty much anything in C++ as well as VB. NET. Is a ‘Different’ design concept better ???

I am in the deal of getting quotes from companies to get a 4 page website which includes. ne at top and sql at the back.
