Design discussion: Javascript usage

Would it be just me or possibly there is really extra acceptance for the application of javascript recently I read many design blogs along with webzines and recently there’s been a tremendous number of promotion of javascript usage… particularly the jquery library. Seems like to me it wasn’t that ancient times that javascript utilization was frowned upon to a few degree since some users sometimes have it disabled. I suppose one of the keys to javascript work with is graceful degradation for people who might have this disabled. But a few of the promoted usages are definitely not accounting for in which. UTF- and sql database isuue

This might now be the right forum for this issue but i did browse around before posting these for apprepriate website but anyways, suggestions little proble i’ve been facing. Relating to a database to get say news. Media are posted by users and end users can post applying unicode(UTF-8) somewhere in my page we need to display the all the list such news, not whole content material but say 300 charecters of each one news. With INCI char its no problem you can get using substr within the query for any desired availablility of charecters but! because we dont’ know whether this type of news is with INCII or seemed to be posted using unicode, as well as becuase unicode charecters require 5or 6 incii char in order to display one charecter, We can not use substr function inside query to find 300 charecters on the news, this would likely give me merely about 40 as well as 50 valid unicode chars if displayed. I am pretty sure there’s a way to diagnose unicode chars in the database and fetch desired amount of such charecters and I am hoping one of an individual guys could suggest me the way to … Continue reading →

FF not linking properly. My links are going to users computer

I designed my blog using Dreamweaver cs4. We’ve it set upwards for localhost. My organization is using apache, php plus mysql. I include tested my website on IE7, Safari plus Firefox. Using localhost. Almost everything worked great. All my links ar comparative. I published my personal site on about my host in addition to IE7 works excellent, however Firefox and Safiri will not. The index web page will load good with all several browsers. www. kammphotography. com After i click on any from the links the browser is seeking to connect the website link with my personal computer. Something like this file: ///c: /user I travelled in and deemed source and all my links are still relative < some sort of href=" form. html" I tried making among the list of links absolute and the worked. If I accomplish that I won’t be able to redesign in Dreamweaver. ( Rename one page and have dreamweaver do the others. ) Browser will be latest version. My organization is using windows Vista 64. I want to be a web designer but how?

Recently i got made well not required before christmas, which was also when we were getting married. It had been a shock and thought about no back up plan, i said we would never let it happen again. So i’d prefer to go into website development, My last employment was Cad-programmer/operator so im not only a stranger to pc’s. So heres what you want from you men…. What route/ path/ courses will i need to become an internet designer. A- B and so forth… Begin from scratch, no person seems to present me a right answer (just wish my money) I’d like this new profession, as its something let me enjoy plus we can work for myself together with a day employment. Also there looks like it’s lots of other avenues going down.
