2 , 3 weeks ago I got no problems registering to two servers through ftp. Now they do not work.
My organization is trying through SmartFTP, Dreamweaver, plus IE. None may accept my usernames or perhaps passwords, which I am aware are correct.
I also tried to have help from my hosting service. They were able to connect using the username and password, but for whatever reason I cannot via my computer. I get " a great ftp error features ocurred" or " would not connect because this target machine definitely refused it. "
There has to be anything on my machine that will prevent ftp accesss by all programs this way I have allowed full entry to all of my own ftp programs throughout my firewall.

Did you attempt simply disabling your firewall While FTP programs happen to be granted full entry, it may are enabled incorrectly, or there will probably be something else there preventing an association. Try turning the firewall off, after which it connecting.
I tried this to help no avail. I’m not sure what would have happened to my machine in a little while that would block access out of the blue. Thanks for ones reply!
I’m not attempting to scare you, but first of all I do when i get an fault or something this seems peculiar to my computer and I do not know what it can be, I run a complete virus scan, plus " Adaware" diagnostic, just to check. I’ve never suffered your problem while…
It appears the issue is with the actual firewall, even if disabled or obtain is given to help ports 20-21.
I was looking around on some other boards for people keeping the same problem.
The right formula was to wholly uninstall the firewall, which in turn seems extreme. As a webmaster you simply can’t use a firewall and ftp as well
What firewall thinking of using
Now i am using McAfee Individual Firewall. It may have self-upgraded gradually recently and is blocking ftp admittance through SmartFTP, Dreamweaver, plus IE. Setting up distinct port 20-21 access doesn’t manage to work either.
It will seemn kind of silly to get to uninstall along with re-install everytime you planned to use ftp.
It’s your decision to try an alternative firewall then. In my opinion Zone-Alarm has a free firewall that’s very decent. I use Norton Internet Safety measures, which isn’t no cost, but I employed Zone Alarm before I bought a copy associated with Norton, it did the job.

Thanks for the help! I must completely uninstall McAfee and connected to FTP without any problems. Also downloaded ZoneAlarm and the works too.
Too bad since MY PARTNER AND I liked the McAfee firewall, however can’t live with out FTP access.
