UTF- and sql database isuue

This might now be the right forum for this issue but i did browse around before posting these for apprepriate website but anyways, suggestions little proble i’ve been facing. Relating to a database to get say news. Media are posted by users and end users can post applying unicode(UTF-8) somewhere in my page we need to display the all the list such news, not whole content material but say 300 charecters of each one news. With INCI char its no problem you can get using substr within the query for any desired availablility of charecters but! because we dont’ know whether this type of news is with INCII or seemed to be posted using unicode, as well as becuase unicode charecters require 5or 6 incii char in order to display one charecter, We can not use substr function inside query to find 300 charecters on the news, this would likely give me merely about 40 as well as 50 valid unicode chars if displayed. I am pretty sure there’s a way to diagnose unicode chars in the database and fetch desired amount of such charecters and I am hoping one of an individual guys could suggest me the way to … Continue reading

Redesign considerations – getting away from javscript navigation

I want to redesign the site navigation, right this moment it is made with javascript so that it is easier to regulate across hundreds of pages from the single file. The condition that i prefer to fix during this specific update: The Navigation is not visible to search engines and thus is just not getting crawled. Ideally I would like to manage direction-finding from one file and still have it inserted throughout each page. I have used SSI in the past, but it would not play well together with IIS without transforming the file extensions to. shtml, which I don’t can do. Currently the report extensions are most of. htm. What solutions regarded as a consider when carrying this out update Are you ready for best practices intended for creating navigation that is definitely easily updated across hundreds of pages Thanks earlier for any reviews. Read the threads within this discussion, mlseim discusses using PHP with regard to just this purpose! Thanks for any suggestion and url jyuill, php appears to be a good method. I have only worked with php on squidoo blogs before. Used to do a search and php is fine on IIS servers.

CSS or Tables

Do you find it best to: Design a website so it is completely table-less OR…… Design a website where you work with tables for layout and CSS regarding presentation Continually #1 without exemption, although keep in your mind tables are the precise thing to use when representing tabular information. Use < div> rather than table and CSS with regard to presentation setting up Div for system and CSS with regard to presentation… Meh, you are doing know that they’re saying that tables should by no means be used (even intended for tabular data)… instead you’re designed to use < dt> < dd> tags.. I haven’t completely grasped/accepted that idea truthfully speaking but I do know from my a lot more recent research that tables = awful. Nonsense. In case you have data that is actually naturally represented implementing column headers and also rows, it’s any table by distinction. dl/dd/dt is just for lists of meanings. The entire point of semantic markup could be to use the label that describes the images, and a table is okay at describing a new table. Googling XHTML Validation and Tables…. I obtained enough links to choke a mule along with… But this guy seems … Continue reading

thoughts on which cms for me to use

Is there any way feasible to convert this specific static site to be able to css without originating in scratch Any suggestion will probably be greatly appreciated. Many thanks: -/ No there’s not… But maybe you’re not sure what CSS is A static website can use CSS. CSS (Cascade Form Sheets) is the use of tags and homes to define the planning and layout belonging to the pages, within CODE. A page that is not static (dynamic), would be a page that purposes server-side scripting, such as PHP to dynamically modify content, automatically… in contrast to, your static web site would require you edit it manually everytime content changes. I think you aren’t sure about static and also dynamic website along with CSS also books cant convert your webblog static to vibrant using CSS for the reason that CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) a formatting tool you should utilize CSS in static web page also.
