Very Small difference when viewed in IE opposed to other browsers

If u have an alternative web browser for instance firefox or netscape check out this layout throughout both http: //www. satelliteonline. pwp. blueyonder. co. uk/ i recognize its only pretty minor, and when i shouldn’t even be troubled, but its pestering me. Look with the div, it seems smaller in internet explorer than it will in the various other browsers. The scroll bar doesn’t increase to the image if u know spinning program so well. is this curable as well as is it a kind of things that u must live with along with would take a little fiddling around to get right As much as I can understand from your message (without checking it in Firefox or maybe Mozilla as I do not have the browsers at my current location), it seems which the problem you include having is something related to the way of which other browsers render borders and extra padding. Not sure if it something that you can fix, though hoepfully someone else are able to throw a little more light on the topic than me as I are deprived of the tools at the moment. Only am wrong, then I apologise! To begin with, I … Continue reading

Will Firefox change the way we program?

I’m sure many people have heard: " Why bother for making it compliant Most people use IE but it doesn’t care for standards exactly why should I" Properly, with more plus more people turning to help alternate browsers (especially Firefox) is it time for people to acquire their ass straight into gear and produce accessible, standards-supporting web sites My site stats show that 52% connected with my visitors apply Firefox with 40% utilizing IE. Fortunately my website is viewable correctly both in validates as XHTML JUST ONE. 0 and CSS compliant. Despite the fact that I’ve demonstrated, IE’s dominance is collapsing and hopefully it will mean an increase in the volume of sites that can validate. And that isn’t just a plea to us web developers, but to the businesses that make that WYSIWYG editors. Surely you may make standards compliant code I’m sure you can modify the code granted but I bet the majority don’t. In any case, I hope help support Firefox keeps at increasing as Microsoft obviously have lost the block with IE (where can be fully alpha transparency support Surely they are able to have put that will into SP2 Think about increased standards support) and … Continue reading

CSS and Forms

Fine, so I’m making a new registration type for my site. I want to produce this a table-free web-site, mainly for task more than anything. Is it practical to generate a form using CSS Seems to me it would be a lot connected with work. For example, I want the examples below information (keep planned it’s a family / friends site) name neighborhood address state zip phone password email Therefore, Normally, I’d come up with a table, two articles, and alighn the particular text fields from the right column on the left, and the text inside left column towards the right. so you’ll find a nice clean line the place that the forms line up. Is that possible so is it Desireable Thanks : Chris It’s very desireable. In fact, it’s a hell of faster and easier. I suggest you check out some good degrees of forms. http: //www. cameronmoll. com/portfolio/websites/upload/ http: //jfmselect. com/register. cfm Should you study the markup plus the CSS, you are able to see how using < fieldset>, as well as < label> will make your life far too easy. netscape 6.1 background-image problems

Hi y’all. Ive been trying to figure this out but have appear short, so I thought I’d personally throw it out into the community. My business is having a problem displaying some pages in netscape SIX. 1 browser. With some pages, where I have a background-image=" somepic. jpg" throughout my. css track, the image shows throughout my page. While this is actually all well along with good, I don’t want the photograph displayed in the table making the text difficult that will read, so WHEN I assigned a bgcolor=" ffffff" for my table. Occasionally the page parses good, but when I head to the secure document page, the bgcolor attribute would not get parsed. If i click on another page (non-secure) the challenge persists. However, if i go to any 3rd page, the page displays properly. I’m not coding anything different within the pages that obtain parsed correctly and the ones that dont. This particular only happens within netscape 6. 1 (the oldest version of netscape I have loaded) but works fine in all other browsers. Has anyone in addition experienced this Of course , if so, is generally there a fix. I do think its a netscape web browser … Continue reading

most used languages

im a preety new web designer and was wanting to know what languages you guys utilize the most and what ones are more helpful. please post Many thanks I use CSS essentially the most because I think it offers the most versatility inside your designs, but it can even be the biggest hassle unless you know what you’re doing. It’s quite handy though. To define essentially the most useful it genuinely depends on what kind of web work you want to do. Designing for great companies would require a language that is the most cross appropriate. Designing smaller jobs may require a language that delivers versatility (like CSS, because I stated above). Coming up with databases for businesses would require PHP, ASP, or something of this sort. Then there’s always Java and various languages in order to dsign web applets or even CGI. It all really depends upon where you want to go with the idea. thanks. any one else have any favorite languages CSS is actually cool stuff. I’ve ‘just’ started getting into PHP and your simple things it could accomplish – extremely, very cool elements. It took myself FOREVER to figure out how to hook up CGI-BIN material … Continue reading

Image Slice/CSS question

Hi there, this is a new noob question. I’m curious to find out, if I create my web base, slice it up, and slap the idea into CSS, will I be able to make certain pages longer based on content Or will i be stuck along with my image width The image is 760 a 600 pixels. Do I need to make it longer in comparison with 600 Just requiring before I create the footer. I might appreciate any tips. Thanks a lot, Ceara Hi there! No issue. No questions tend to be too easy. You must slice the photograph up, so who’s consists of minimum amount 5 images. You footer, header then one left edge, one content and something right border. The content part may perhaps be only one coloring, so you have to focus on the borders. They need to be ablse to stretch vertically devoid of distortion. Then all you’ve got to write can be background-repeat: repeat-y; and yes it continues until the particular box ends. In your content section it is possible to likely take the 5 or hence pixel high slice of the whole width… By doing this the filesize is actually smaller.. and repeat-y … Continue reading

And theres also a few problems in Firefox however, the width setting within the links in the top end right dosnt are most often working, it shoud be the whole 200px across… IE seems to be resizing the major image section affordable (how the hell) plus makes the links as being a list, tiling vertically. Furthermore, does anyone realize how to center div’s without needing center tags WOOPSIE, did not remember the address: http: //hofflenosh. f2g. net/totalcleantest/home. htm (hosting for a subdirectory in the Hofflenosh Website throughout testing… ) To center the website use margin: 0px car; whatever div has been to be centered. I’ve never used thicker: 100% in the CSS because Now i’m under the impression so it doesn’t work exactly the same way as in HTML. … Continue reading
