Multiple Language Website – How?

Hello all, I’m assembling a website within (I think) related to 7 languages. So I presume I build one website after which it make 7 copies of it as well as translate the text following that…. Would that end up being right Seems a tad long winded so I thought right now there might be a healthier way – can any individual offer any suggestions Or am I spot on throughout my assumption Thanks heaps ahead! Neil : ichatnervous: It really will depend on your website. When you’ve got a site which displays dynamic content (such to be a blog, articles, etc), content is already stored in any database. That content is stored in various directories as their own language. Cookies how the user has picked out will determine which in turn language to show… the scripts draw that content through the appropriate directory. I would go for a " template" type site the place that the base look is fixed, plus the subject material is pulled via various directories. Users select their language choice and that decision is saved being a cookie so they see a similar language when they come back later. It’s all about using PHP in … Continue reading

Loading Time: 1 Big Image or Several Smaller?

Pertaining to website loading period, is it better to possess 1 big photo or break the larger image upwards into several lesser ones When you are talking about a large photo, I would certainly leave that entire. If you broken up a 4k photo into four 256 byte images thinking that you cut page load time by way of a quarter. However that is counter productive, and in just about all cases the 4k graphic would load more quickly do to ask for overhead. If your picture is reasonable in dimensions, I think any particular one large file will load with more speed than several little ones. How big is big When you are talking about one thing over 1MB you might split that upwards. But if it’s just a 200k header, We’ve loaded that of hospitality attire image with lots fast results. Hope that helps. 1 large. Every additional image with a page means one more HTTP request. Cheers Brandontran and Filbert1 – Let me change the method I do things. I had considered that – one example is, three 25k pictures would load a lot quicker than one 100k graphic – but have find things recently of which … Continue reading

Best Way to Convert Site into French

I have a French Chateau site which i did after some duration ago for a good English couple targetting other English tourists – the website is at the superior of Google for all English keywords. They now need to keep the English version but also have an more French version from the same site in order to attract French customers. What is the best way to make this happen – the budget will be minimal!! Will i need to repeat each page by using French keywords within the urls and French keywords inside alt text etc plus a French translation on the content Or will this have the pages dumped in to the supplemental because of duplicate content Additionally, is there some kind of programme that is going to do things for you Would appreciate any kind of advice as that is all new in my opinion. How many web pages are there on the website. On earth do you show us the url to it You can look at the google translate tool. Many a new FONT=& quotweb site design company find the tool helpful. /FONT Miseim: The site has 10 pages and it is at http: //www. chateaudeplehaut. … Continue reading

spry Menu Bar – not displaying correctly in IE

We’ve an issue which has a a spry drop-down menus bar. It should resemble this: http: //i303. photobucket. com/albums/nn134/mr-skill/Picture23. png In Firefox & Safari it appears to be fine but in IE appears this: http: //i303. photobucket. com/albums/nn134/mr-skill/Picture24. png If it arrived on the scene like that within Firefox I’d think it was because the div that contain the spry club was too small but that isn’t the case – can be seen the yellow outline with the div in the primary pic, and it’s bigger as opposed to spry element. Every ideas Usually ie6 or SEVERAL or both It’s usually margin and/or foam with ie6 and perhaps sometimes 7. DW does a okay job making those spry menus work in everything, until you mess with all the css. Have you experimented with making the div a bit wider Start having 20px wider first. If that maintenance tasks it, then it is a width problem. Hopefully you can also make it wider without messing up your layout. Otherwise, you may have to have a ie mend. When the site is dwell, can you place a link so I could tinker around for it That gave me the clue POST needed, … Continue reading

Best way to compare and review?

Hey guys, I was wondering what the best way to compare in addition to review products with a site are. I have recently been researching this for a time but I’m still uncertain. I have gamed about with Joomla for the last couple with weeks but I am just not sure here is the best option. MY PARTNER AND I haven’t played all over with Drupal before nor done significantly research into the idea, any pointers Would it certainly be best not to ever use a CMS in any way, and if here is the case, where should i start This is the bit of the hazy topic, so I provides you with an example of something akin to what I am wanting to achieve: http: //www. hostfinder. co. uk/ Cheers for any advice, Ali.

Novice Question: How to create page with dynamic elements, ie: menu’s & pagelets..

Heya guys, I just now found your forum and I do think it’s great! I’ve learned a whole lot already. I have recently been a webmaster for numerous years, very novice although – and will have been using just HTML plus much more recently CSS. I’ve had some encounter with frames/iframes, tables all that will stuff and am prepared to learn more… I maintain one or two websites currently (all amateurish) and I have been asked to create another one… with this new one I’d like to take an alternative approach. One of the pet peeves with each one of my current websites is when we have a menu change or perhaps something similar (ie: add a different image to the header, new link inside footer, navigation pub, etc… ) I must manually update each and every page… Most websites I see now take over dynamic elements (I think these are similar to pagelets) – (for example, http: //news. bbc. corp. uk/) I’m sure they don’t specify their links in every page and also the little box that says most in-demand stories…, but somehow call up these links on the page.. this is what I would like to learn how … Continue reading
